THE boys from The Footy Show (NRL) nearly brought back the biff at Australian television's night of nights on Sunday.

Bad blood between host Paul "Fatty" Vautin and Channel 9 director of sport Steve Crawley boiled over at the Logie Awards despite the show taking out the most popular sports program award.

A Nine source said Crawley challenged the former Manly and Sydney Roosters forward to "take this outside" during a heated argument in the Crown Casino Ballroom.

Vautin rejected the offer and later complained about Crawley to network boss Eddie MacGuire.

Crawley was reportedly angry because Vautin thanked Nine's former head of sport Gary Burns, who was fired four years ago, and not him in his Logie acceptance speech.

It's understood Crawley and Vautin don't see eye to eye, with the rivalry believed to be behind the sport boss' removal of Vautin from all rugby league commentary duties.
