A MAKE or break week of rehabilitation on the physiotherapist’s table looms for the Sea Eagles with upwards of five players battling injuries.

Backrower Shane Rodney appears to be the most serious, awaiting the results of scans taken on Monday morning after suffering a knee injury in the early minutes of Saturday night’s important, 19-16 win over the Warriors at Brookvale Oval.

Second-rower Anthony Watmough (ankle) is also under a cloud, but he remains confident of playing the Roosters at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday.

Injured trio Will Hopoate (hamstring), Ben Farrar (knee) and Josh Perry (kneecap) will all be monitored, with the latter indicating he would not play.

“More than likely not,” Perry, who has missed the past two matches, said.

“I’m still not sure, it depends if Des (coach Des Hasler) wants to give me time during the week. I’ve had a run on it. It wasn’t at top pace but it was a good start, better than what we thought it would be.

“Obviously I want to get as many games under my belt with Manly as I can. Another home game would be nice.”

Farrar, who has missed three games with his knee injury, sounded far more hopeful of taking on the Roosters in a game the Sea Eagles must win to have any hope of hosting a semi-final.

“I’m hopeful, it’s only Monday. There’s a fair bit of water to go under the bridge before we know if I can play,” he said. “It’s coming along pretty well, though.”

While Farrar was cautiously talking up his chances, Rodney is unsure of his fate after picking up an early injury against the Warriors on Saturday night.

“It’s a bit sore, I felt a pop on the side of my knee after I tried to tackle one of their players,” he said late Monday.

Hopoate was named last week to play the Warriors but pulled out on game day. He is likely to return with the impressive Michael Oldfield set to miss out.

“He’s going really well, killing it,” Farrar said of Oldfield’s form.

“All the young fellows who have played this year have done exceptionally well.”

Trent Hodkinson did well on Saturday night, booting a field goal in the 76th minute to wrap up the win over the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Brookvale Oval will host junior league grand finals on Saturday.

Rumours had emerged over the weekend suggesting the Sea Eagles would not allow the finals to be played at the venue.

However, Manly will definitely train at Narrabeen on Saturday, instead of Brookvale ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Roosters.

“I don’t know where the rumours started, but we have been co-operating with the junior league and we understand what an honour it is for the kids to play at Brookvale Oval,” Sea Eagles official Peter Peters said.

Grand finals will kick off from 10.30am.
