Went to school with old school Manly players

Lenny Diett was a class mate of mine. He was always a brilliant schoolboy footballer. Originally played junior league for Dee Why but then got introduced to union at MBHS. He captained the 1st XV in 1956 (which won the comp), and also CHS which whipped GPS that year. He went on to play Union for...

    Corey Waddell

Throughout his first stint at Manly Waddell overall had deficiencies - particularly in attack - where he rarely passed the ball thereby starving outside players. However, whilst at Canterbury I noticed he had clearly improved his ball-playing skills. As his defense and toughness have always been...

    Jaxon Paulo

Was interested to watch Paulo in the Easts match. Generally was underwhelmed by his performance. He seemed to be well 'off the pace' - but possibly due to being out of the NRL for so long. Just hope Manly not paying too much for him. As for TALAU - from what I have seen of him - he is sloppy...

    Kaeo Weekes

Weekes has SPEED plus the necessary footy fundamentals. Has so much potential up- side - crazy to let him go.

    Keppie

Suggest Jake has more errors (penalties, 6 agains), every game than Keppie.

    Tommy Talau

Watched Talau last night. Generally seems to move ok, has power, and has a bit of speed off the mark. But also needs some good coaching in the fundamentals of centre 3/4 play - such as draw and pass and the like.

    Move Olakau'atu to Prop/Middle

I agree he should go to the middle position. Out wide he is stifling the attack. Koula is virtually an onlooker he gets so little good ball. Undoubtedly the PRESENT POSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE NOT WORKING!

    Run Koula Run

Agree. Olakauatu is cruelling Koula with his complete lack of ball skills.

    Run Koula Run

Agree - Olakauatu is destroying Koula with his ball hogging and general lack of ball skills. I believe Ola should be moved into the front row where is sole attribute of physicality will be more valuable. Should be replaced inside Koula by someone who knows how to create space and pass.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly v Cowboys [Round 20, 2023]

Obviously disappointed with the result but thought that at least Manly never gave up. But it is now obvious that the current line-up is just not competitive against good opposition. Probably too late now for this season but some suggested changes I would like to see are: 1. Move Olakauatu from...

    Latu Fainu

In reality Fulton is very average. Not big and lacks pace. He is courageous, but that is about all. Matterson is twice the player.

    Liam Martin?

    Agree completely.

    Fletcher Myers (young fullback/centre)

Have not observed much positive footage of Talau with the Tigers so far to make me have too much optimism about him.

    Blacktown Workers ... 2023 ..

Also interesting - Tommy Talau listed as a reserve for the Tigers. So looks like that transfer (w/- Latu) deal has not yet happened (and hopefully will not).

    Latu Fainu

Koula is an excellent footballer - has great pace, excellent fundementals, and guts. He is still very young but is a great prospect - can be, and should be a match winner. Main problem so far are the logs playing inside him, none of whom have the minimum balls skillls or football nous, to give...
