The game has moved on from me and a lot of people from my generation

For all our appreciation of the old days, I have to say at the Bulldogs semi final, i loved the atmosphere and jumped for joy at full time. Just like when I was a kid.

I do remember the streamers that they sold outside the grounds. Maroon and white and whatever else colour your team was. Also small bits of streamers in the Sheridan stand like confetti. I used to take a pair of 10 x 50 binoculars to the game and a couple of small bits of streamers stuck inside...

I was in the old Brewongle Stand with my sister. She went for Easts then and now supports the Bulldogs.

Thanks Terry and Eagle for your info and stats. Nice for once that my game recollections were accurate. Ray Branighan was one of the greats. Check out the 1976 match on YouTube vs the Bulldogs. He does this tiny step that splits two Bulldog defenders and sprints into the clear and times a...

Actually if there going to play a Neil Diamond song, it has to be 1974's "Longfellow Serenade". It always reminds me of that Rodney Dangerfield movie "Back to School". Dangerfield to attractive young female student:- "What's your favourite sudject?" Student:- "Poetry!" Dangerfield:-...

Agreed. Kudos to the first ground person who plays JPY's "I hate the music"!

The game has moved on from me and a lot of people from my generation

On Facebook yesterday someone posted a picture of a bottle of Brandivino. I can still remember a mate of my brother doubled over in pain after drinking half a bottle of that paint stripper in the KGV grandstand at Henson Park in 1976. That never happens at Brookie these days. Old days, old ways.

The game has moved on from me and a lot of people from my generation

I guess its an age thing. I went to my first game at the SCG in June 75 seeing Manly vs The Roosters. We lost due to two freaky field goals by two brilliant players; John Brass and Russell Fairfax with a disallowed try by Ray Branighan on the full time hooter. A great day watching Johnny Gibbs...

Lee Meriwether was a bit of a hottie as well back in the day. I think she subbed as Catwoman in the Batman movie when Julie Newmar was unavailable.

Also was in Star Trek Deep Space 9 and TJ Hooker with William Shatner. Was a handy singer too. I think he sang the Gidget theme. I also wondered how he and Robert Colbert landed in a new time so neat and clean. The Time Tunnel must have had a robot dry cleaner.

    That's entertainment Folks!

And Mint Slices aren't as good as they once were. Don't get me started on Wagon Wheels! As the last of the Boomers, the first game I attended was in 1975. I don't regularly watch the TV telecast any more. I watched the Tigers vs Eagles match and yelled at the screen for the match. I can't...

    Moving forward improvements needed

Only old timers understand "On the Buses" references! I can't link it, but Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse aks "Harry and Paul", have a couple of great On the Buses send ups on YouTube.

Lovely pic, Wombat Jnr. Love the 78 premiership jersey. Wish you could buy new ones like that with the correct pioneer font lettering.

    Horsbororough or Saifiti?

I would have liked that comment but was too busy coughing my lungs up after smoking a pack of Marlborough's.

    Quac dropped

Gauc might not be the shiniest penny, however Abdo and the gambling magnet (VLD) may like to ask themselves a few questions about ground management. When a large mob of aggressive players swarm over a bench and officials, what do they think is going to happen? They can and should let Guac off...

[Resurrected] Penn reveals emotionaly draining rebuild

I guess that is half (or most) of the problem. Middling clubs like Manly do not have much on field success, yet still rake in cash. There is little incentive to achieve much when you are profitable with few recent trophies. Sadly unless something changes, clubs like ours will be like the...

Terry, in that photo he looks a lot like the old camp American comic, Paul Lynde. Paul might manage the club better. It's the stupid grin that gets me.

[Resurrected] Hasler named Titans coach after shock Holbrook exit

Agree. But that would mean sacking his fav son Foran. Foran is useless these days and past his use by date. He was useless for Manly. Schu on one leg was better than Foran. Brilliant analysis as ever from an impartial observer. You've got Foran pegged; you keen-eyed observer of the game.
