    The REAL Wolf verdict

I think Killer's drop was contested, Wolfie's wasn't. (Killer had a mixed match, it's fair to say). Anyway I agree you shouldn't pin the loss solely on Wolf but also you shouldn't blank out what happened. You can't say he had a good match or even a not so bad one, but, yes, he was not alone. I'd...

    Manly's official complaint over GF

As I said time to move on but Greenberg's use of the royal "we" is amusing. Hey Todd I'll talk to you and then "we" can decide you are a tosser.

    The REAL Wolf verdict

"Maybe I have blanked it out but just what did Wolfie do wrong AFTER Manly had a 10 point lead in the grand final? Anything?" I am pretty sure it was in this period (haven't checked) he dropped, or more accurately let bounce off him, an uncontested bomb, probably because he was looking at the...

    Manly's official complaint over GF

I have fumed over this for a long time (am grateful I was at the ground and couldn't see from my angle how forward the pass was. It would have just made that experience worse). But time to move on. We get our bits of fortune (Reynolds recent miss in front, LOL), not normally from the refs...

    The REAL Wolf verdict

Can't decide whether to blame him for missing the relatively regulation put down of DCE's grubber on Sunday. Personally I thought it a 50/50 call that would have gone with us in seasons past. He was pretty fortunate that the ball he fumbled with the line open was knocked forward by us.

    Our best 17

In a choice between Blair and Hiku for a wing spot I'd go for Blair. Hiku just doesn't have the pace or aerial skills. How good it was to have a tallish winger who can jump to aim the last kick at on Sunday, giving us another backline target besides Jamie Lyon.

    Whinging worms

I would note for all the whinging about the last penalty on Sunday I don't think anyone would say it wasn't a high shot (esp in the jittery current circumstances) and a penalty. So the thing to be upset about is that the ref missed it on the first go. The only thing to be said for him is at...

And now for the GF rematch

So we lost four times to them last year (five if you counted the trial). Is that our longest losing streak against anyone for a while? I doubt we have lost more than three in a row to the Storm for a while, maybe the Dragons.

    Whinging worms

No action against Hayne for his comments. Apparently only Toovey is not allowed to criticised refs. Reminds me of the Cowboys last year after the semi (or any year after a semi).

Storms 2nd half penalty count 23-8

I too am filfthy at the GF count and the ineptitude on display, however I don't think it was so much bias as the inclination of refs in big games (finals and State of Origins) to penalise very little to let the game flow. Not so against that except, of course, when it effectively flows 4-1...

    Some things to consider

On Williams I was very critical of his GF game and I still worry about his ability to compete in the air, such a big part of the modern wingers' game. However he took what turned into a game-winning intercept on Friday. If you're only as good or bad as your last game, then he's pretty good.

Jason King opens up on war of words with Rabbitohs

"King said rugby league was a physical contact sport played by men" - and Jamie Soward? It's not hard to see a future, even if a long way off, where contact sport will be banned. Yes it's primitive but that must be why I like it so. King gave us so much more off the bench than we had against...

    Doomsdayers to become boasters???

I was proud of the team in a game I admit I was gloomy about (but not without some hope) but wouldn't get carried away. The surprising thing was how bad Souths were. Flat, directionless and error-ridden. Maybe it is a bad attitude where they just expected to turn up and win or (I like this...

Eadie v Inglis is a no brainer

The 78 GF is my first league match I can recall. To my young eyes it seemed a team in white jerseys called Graham Eadie beat the other side (whoever those losers were). It was sometime later I supported Manly and I recall Eadie in one of the otherwise horrible to remember early 80s GFs actually...

    Sea Eagles’ ‘super subs’ shine

I was critical of Hiku after the Storm game but agreed he played well on Friday with a crucial offload. Not spectacularly (and let's face it his errors were spectacular the week before) and that's perhaps all that can be asked. I have always liked Buhrer but am dismayed that he seems to be such...

    Hiku madness

Hiku might have run a lot of metres in that SF but we did not score a point. That's much more unlikely with Stewart, even if he only runs 10m. It's fair to say Hiku has done some good and bad things so far but I don't see him as a match-winner. To be a "solid" option as fallback fullback he had...

Is Killer complaining to the refs too much

Maybe we should change our name to Moanly Waa-whinger. Mind you I see every complaint made by us as completely justified and I forgive nothing. Still flabber and gasted that one of our players was headbutted in the GF RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF AND THEY GOT THE PENALTY!!!!!

    Souffs game

MWSE website says definitely no Brett and no King but Wolf is back. Bit concerning that our leading prop is still unavailable two games in. Thought our forwards were ground down against the Storm, who look lightweight compared to the Burgess-infested Bunnies.

    The Ageing Roster

DCE is young but also a Queensland and Australian rep player. Foran was very quiet. Plenty of other veterans in the team, yet we played stupidly. Actually the game reminded me of one against Parra (from memory) where Stewart limped off and we almost blew a huge lead (lucky it was Parra)...

    The Ageing Roster

The first half was a glorious reminder of how good is it when "the band is back together". However that looks like it will be increasingly a rarity. For all the talk of our young halves we are incredibly reliant on B Stewart. The cap forced us to let go of his obvious replacement in W Hopoate...
