The NRL is failing it's fans

I agree with most comments, and also feel coaches, who deliberately push beyond the rules (and spirit of the game) are at least partly to blame. For example, a stronger officiating body could have zealously penalised the neck pressure/wrestling when this started and killed it off. But what about...

Just a thought - key ingredient missing

Even some small changes would help. Why do Saab, Garrick (and to lesser extent Talau) regularly receive the ball 2, 3 or 4 metres behind the play the ball when working out from our own end? The storm back 3 always receive it "flat" at the play the ball (or forward).

    Miserable Middles To Dominate Middles.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Bullymore and Sipley just don't have the necessary aggro to go head-to-head with the best packs. Lodge, whilst slow, does have that within him.

    Post-Game Discussion Roosters V Manly [Round 21, 2024]

It was a gutsy effort to stay in the game, especially with injuries (garrick/saab). What concerns me is the lack of go-forward out of our own end. We regularly get shown up in this part of the game, particularly against quality opposition. I don't recall Toff and Paseka hitting the line at full...

    MVP: Rd 21 v Roosters

    3. Brooks. Great in defence and some good attacking plays. 2. Nathan Brown. Brings the energy and intent so often missing from our other forwards. 1. GCKT. Some nice touches.

Has Bullemor improved big time ?

He looks to be playing with more intent. I love his leg drive in attack, but I think his defence is an area for improvement; not much line speed and his initial contact rarely stings the ball runner.

    Jamie Humphreys

Everyone on the winning team can look like a potential star when you are dominating the whole game. He certainly played well and didn't look out of his depth. That said, I have seen him play in the lower grades and never really thought he stood out. I don't think he has the speed, athleticism or...

    Caleb Navale

Limited time on the field today, but I think he will develop into the smaller fast forward we are lacking. He looks short of first grade level fitness, which hopefully he can work on. A couple of times today he managed to find the ground quickly and get a fast play the ball. Promising.

    Paul Kent in trouble again

He sounds like a man with some demons and a lot of issues to work through. All the best to him and hopefully he can grow from this very public fall from grace.

'Skipping' runs - Koula Garrick Saab and others

I am OK with backs that want to skip/step/change direction etc. I do get annoyed watching Sipley and Josh A (sometimes) skipping before the line, rather than running hard. The problem is they inevitably have a slow play the ball after getting pushed back and wrestled to the ground, and we lose...

    Post-Game Discussion Penrith V Manly [Round 14, 2024]

I think we have an attack that can troubles the very best defences, however our middle can't match it against the very best teams. The penrith forwards and back 3 made incredible yardage through our middle and dominated field position. We couldn't stop their roll-on or match their metres when...

Game Day: Penrith V Manly [Round 14, 2024]

I know he has some fans here, but Sipley isn't in our top 17. Soft euns, poor mobility and minimal linespeed.

    LOL @ Tigers

There were rumours earlier in the year that manly were after him. He looks a pretty good prospect to me, and i suspect he will grow into an outstanding ball playing lock. It is possible this agitation for a release, co-ordinated by Isaac Moses, could see him land at manly.

    Aaron Schoupp

As a depth signing this may turn out OK. I can't explain the poor recent form with the titans, but at the bulldogs he was an aggressive and bustling "in your face" style of centre. If we can get him back to his best he may be a decent back-up player.

The Anthony Seibold Grievances MEGA THREAD

I see the losses this year (particularly in games we should have won) and our mixed form in recent years through a different lense. Manly lack real "mongrel" across our roster; the type of players who never give in, and want to win at any cost. Wayne Bennett and the dolphins recruitment was...

    Tommy Talau

I have been pleasantly surprised at his transition to the wing and what he has contributed. He runs hard and has looked pretty good under the high ball. Not as fast as Jaxson Paulo, but he brings more energy and intensity. Definitely an upgrade on Christian T.
