    NRL Games [Round 7, 2025]

I feel like the players that would have been second-rowers 5-10 years ago are the ideal props of today. The Bulldogs don't look like they have props that just cart it up the middle. Across their entire forward pack, they are getting quick play-the-balls and moving the opposition defenders...

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Dragons [Round 7, 2025]

They don't assign grades or charged for incidents that are referred directly to the judiciary... So, if he's found guilty (I'll be amazed if he isn't), then I'm pretty sure they can pick and choose any punishment they deem appropriate... regardless of whether or not it relates to the grading table.

Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

There needs to be a circuit breaker for this season very soon, or we are at risk of missing the top 8. If that means benching a high-profile player for a week for substandard performances (due to medical reasons or otherwise), then so be it.

    How do we unlock Koula?

He was previously at right centre next to DCE and the same issue was being pinned on DCE... which is probably partially true, but the common denominator is Tolu himself. Despite his proven toughness and athleticism, he doesn't often seem to keep the opposition guessing with soft hands, a...

    NRL Games [Round 4, 2025]

Seems a pretty safe bet that Bulldogs will finish Top 4 this year.

    apocalypse or opportunity ...

Opportunity. If we choose from within or recruit well, then we should not only have a good replacement but also have an extra $400k or so to spend on players surrounding the new half-back. A sober reminder... We've tried having a single player on 16% of the salary cap and surrounding him with...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

I imagine that the club did, but for a start, DCE just said that he hasn't decided what he is doing next year. Having watched most of that interview, I am not convinced that he is telling the full truth...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

It is Round 3... if true, why does the club need to have an offer on the table right now? Why can they not take the pragmatic approach of seeing how he continues to play as a 36-year old before making a decision?

    The Daly Cherrygraph

So, the 8 years where he was the highest paid player in the competition courtesy of MWSE, occupying 16% of the 30-man salary cap, meaning that we had much less bandwidth to build a quality squad around him, ergo needed to rely more on star rookies and budget buys than other clubs... means...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

"Many years" is debatable. Tom turns 29 this year and Jake turns 31. It is not unreasonable to suggest that given their age and physicality of their playing that one or both will be retired within 3 years.

    Line speed and ruck area

Fairly early in the game last week (and a lot of the time actually) our team didn't/don't look confident. They don't look like they're talking. Now I don't know if that's down to the coach or players but sometimes (and this is armchair psychology from someone who hasn't played rugby league) I...

    The Daly Cherrygraph

Each club has to manage their salary cap, but when you have a halfback occupying 16% of a 30-man salary cap for 8 years, then the club really has to rely on outstanding rookies and bargain buys to fill the gaps across the roster... and if they are good then those players won't remain at bargain...

    Post-Game Discussion Warriors V Manly [Round 2, 2025]

That wasn't great but I am more concerned about the injuries. We need to be winning the next 3 games at home or this season could start to unravel quickly.

Faulalo not physically imposing enough in first grade.

Game Day: Warriors V Manly [Round 2, 2025]

Too many mistakes. 6-0 in six-agains are not helping.

The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

I should add that one game against ordinary opposition that conceded 42 points should not count for too much when making a meaningful comparison.

The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

Should earn his way back in... as should a few other players. There's nothing wrong with healthy competition for starting spots and I think the coach is pragmatic enough to realise this.
