    Flanagan was banned for his role in a doping scandal and later banned again for flagrantly breaching the terms of that original ban. Wanting another coach is one thing but I don't really understand how some people still want/see him as the saviour we should have had.

    I agree... We scored enough points to finish in the top 8, and we scored those points the same way every other team had to score them... by winning football matches. The target now has to be a home semi at Brookvale which will give us the best chance of getting to Finals week 2, and beyond.

    It would be good if there was a measurable statistic for this, dating back to 2020, ranking each team per year for most points conceded in the set after a penalty or 6-again... to see if we are conceding more or less relative to other teams year-on-year. I doubt this is an issue only for Manly...

    By what metric? Most teams are conceding high scores this year. We're currently ranked 6th of 17 teams for points conceded (1st being least and 17th being most), having played one more game than most. This how we've tracked for that in the last few years: 2017 - 11/16 2018 - 16/16 2019 - 5/16...

    We were getting flogged on occasion by 38 points 4 years into Des v2, before the jersey round. We aren't going to win the competition this year, but we have looked a lot better than most seasons since 2014. 14-0 against Souths was our biggest loss this season.

    We've got a decent record against them at other away venues such as Campbelltown, Homebush and Parramatta in the past 20 years, it is just Leichhardt that is the outlier. No excuses this week though.

    Koula could be an interesting option on the bench. At centre he often just does a lot of grunt work, but he could be more dynamic coming on at 30-50 minutes in the middle of the field against tiring defenders.
