    Turbo to Superleague?

John’s is quoted as saying ‘we need more stars going over there’; um, why?

    [Resurrected] Zach Dockar-Clay

Don't think he is a Simpkin replacement. He's GCT's replacement.

    Turbo to Superleague?

I don't get the feeling they're trying to gauge market value, instead, I think he's considering retiring from the NRL due to injury. He probably figures he has another year left at this level, and then he can put the constant pressure and scrutiny of the NRL behind him and just enjoy his footy.

    2026 recruitment & retention

He was a late bloomer and the media released a few puff pieces about his perseverance. He can scoot and that’s about it, hence his release from Penrith.

    Wooden Spoon

I’ve gone cold on the idea of Hoppa at 1. He’s a great last line in defence and safe under the high ball but as he has put weight on to handle the rigours of FG, he’s lost pace. He’s also not much of a ball player. I really like him but think he might be a winger.

    Kobe Hetherington

This is a great signing and the reality is we need to pay overs and offer additional years to win out in the player market; that’s not a choice, it’s a necessity for clubs that don’t offer other caveats, like a great system (Penrith) or brown bags (Roosters). Given that’s the case, the club’s...

    Jason Saab

Saab can’t catch a cold so even the good kicks will be dropped more often than not. Also, Coates is agile, aggressive and energetic. Saab can only run in a straight line. I get the impression you have a bit of a soft spot for Saab but it’s getting to the point where his form is making it hard...

    2026 recruitment & retention

They should have gone all out for Trey Mooney.

    Tommy Talau

I think @Phobia is right in saying we’ll offer him something and take care of his rehab and what not, for ethical reasons. However, I doubt he’ll be given a top 30 spot anymore. @Hertera I think the Super League was off the table because Schoupp wasn’t part of last night’s farewell. I think he...

    Jason Saab

    Yeah he stinks bad.

    Jake Simpkin signed until 2026

Agree. To the untrained eye, he looks as good as most middle of the road 9s, but he’s below average.

    Jason Saab

I think Koula's last contract was signed under very different circumstances. It'd be very unusual for a player that young to lock in a lengthy deal when they know they'll keep developing in ways that raise their price. I wouldn't read too much into it; standard deal for a player whose value can...

    Burbo

He’s been good but I wouldn’t call him without error; he’s thrown some dodgy offloads and given away a number of frustrating penalties for high shots.

    2026 recruitment & retention

Makes the ACL more disappointing now. He’ll miss at least the first couple of months of next season if he sticks around, which means we’ll start the year with less depth before a ball has even been kicked.

    Friday Farewells

I reckon he could end up replacing Tom down the track, with Hoppa to stay on the wing.

    Friday Farewells

Talau caught a couple of bombs over his head tonight that brings Saab’s performances this season to shame.

I'm glad Talau is on his way; Clayton F is a better shadow player.

Thanks for memories DCE; it's been a very entertaining 15 years. There's been so many highlights. It's the end of an era at Manly but that's life.

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Warriors [Round 27, 2025]

He was awful again tonight. One great take for a bomb that most wingers take every week and it felt like a career defining moment for him. He tripped over his own feet for the fastest try in NRL history.
