    Do we let Taupau go?

Walker has averaged 12.5 games per season in his last 3 seasons for us, so not sure what difference that would make. He is the very definition of busted. Letting him go and spending the cash in a position of need (5/8 or a 9) would 100% be an upgrade.

Point stands. They're on minimum. 80K was the old minimum.

I agree with you the Turbo's value for money right now is looking terrible. But the alternative was losing them both and that would have been a monumental fkup by our management and derided by all supporters for decades. So we can't do anything about that. So to clear decent cap space we need...

**** me we have three highly paid props. You've just named one each from a couple of random teams. Name another team with three highly paid props. Now name a premiership winning team from the last 25 years with three highly paid props that were eating 20-25% of that team's cap.

    Do we let Taupau go?

Yes, let's ditch Jake after a massive contract upgrade. That will do wonders for team harmony. Don't think ditching Boyle or Keppie 80K will help the cap problem. You do get what I'm saying right? I'm not saying Marty is a bad player. This is a very simple concept.

    Do we let Taupau go?

Jake is currently playing busted and more and more like a prop every week. When he starts playing like a ball playing backrower again I'm sure many will judge him on that.

    Do we let Taupau go?

You still haven't answered my initial surmising. Big money props (of which we now have 3) don't win comps. Big money spines win comps. The point of NRL is to win trophies. Some on here would lead you to believe it's to feel all warm and fuzzy about existing players. Taupau is a top...

This is what people can't separate.

    Do we let Taupau go?

Your post literally proves my point. None of those props were superstars or even rep players other than Kite. And he wasn't eve. One of the top 3 props in the game at the time. Cuthbo, Rose, an old Galuvao, Perry, Bryant. Is this a gee up? Vic Mauro for crying out loud. Yet we won the...

    Do we let Taupau go?

Not sure you can read properly but where did I say you can win a GF without 2 good props? List all the players at Manly on more than Marty. I said millions $$ invested in multiple props doesn't win you comps. Please point to when this has happened in the past. Then I will show you all the...

    Do we let Taupau go?

Other than Kite none of those guys were taking anywhere near the cap hit that AFB, Taupau and Jake are eating into. This is not even close. And I wasn't just referring to past Manly premierships. Look at every year.

This sums it all up. If people can't comprehend this then there's no more to discuss.

    Do we let Taupau go?

Rarely do teams with millions invested in multiple props win the comp.

    Do we let Taupau go?

Because our cap is ****ed. And out of the top 5 or 6 players at our club his position is least important and where we have most depth. Put simply, we have to cull one of our top earners to actually build some decent depth in key positions and also hold onto some of our young potential...

    Do we let Taupau go?

"Better" than utter **** still ain't that great. We need to spend money on halves and a hooker and strikepowr out wide. Simple. Marty is the odd man out.

    Pick two

We are no chance of signing Alex Johnston, or anyone in that price range/status.

    The real problem with Manly.

Hey I totally agree. 4 games where we can't make the 8 and can't get the spoon. No expectations. Des needs to let it rip and see what he has. Huamole, Funa, Hoppa, Schuster, etc. - it's time to throw it all out there and see who is willing to rip in for a top 17 roster spot in 2021.

    The real problem with Manly.

It's interesting as we actually have the makings of a pretty good NRL roster, potentially top 4, with just a few personnel changes. Fainu, Turbo and a player like Foran along with a few of the rookie backs perservered with and Haumole in for Joel Thompson would instantly do wonders for our attack.

    The real problem with Manly.

They haven't played first grade. They cannot be considered depth. It's not rocket science. Melbourne can slot in a player like that because they have probably the best coach of the last 20 years, the best hooker that's ever played the game, and a bunch of rep stars, pace, and power in key...

    The real problem with Manly.

Until the NRL publishes player salaries like US sports we are all just playing guessing games. It's obvious our squad is fairly top heavy and we lack serious quality and depth in the backs and hooker. My original point still stands, usually culling players such as your Garricks, Parkers...
