    Burbo

78 minutes without Lehi was going to burn us one way or another. If we had Simpkin, an outside back and two props on the bench, then our forwards would have been even more gassed at the end of that match.

    Post-Game Discussion Knights V Manly [Round 14, 2025]

That's disappointing but I will say that you usually cannot win matches when the fullback goes off 6 minutes into the match, with another outside back spends 15 minutes off the field... when there are 4 forwards on the bench.

You're also comparing someone who hardly ever lets himself get tackled, with two people whose job it is to run into 300kg of men 15-20 times a game 25+ times a year... and with 50% more aggression at Origin.

    State of Origin, 2025.

The call by Andrew Johns to replace DCE seems like change for the sake of change. You could argue that at the moment he might not be the right choice for captain, but Munster, Ponga and other Queensland backs were less effectual than DCE last night. That being said, once or twice he looked...

    Metcalf

IMO, our past 10 years as a club has led us to this point. Whenever DCE hasn't had an experienced halves partner in the past 10 years, the opposition teams pressure him and the game plan falls apart. After Foran left in 2022, we tried Schuster, Johns and Arthur in 2023 and none of them...

What’s really killing our 2025 season?

As Manly coach, Seibold currently has a higher win percentage than Barrett (not a high bar to clear there) but also currently higher than Des (his immediate predecessor) had across his entire second stint at Manly. To me that's enough of a sample size to suggest we have other problems to...

I understand the Roosters are simply continuing to implement a new club rule... No players with names ending in -andon Smith.

All NRL Games [Round 10, 2025]

Except when they don't... we put 40 points on the Raiders in Round 3 while they were at full strength, while we were missing Tom. The Raiders look great when they're on, but their underwhelming performances (or entire seasons) seem to quietly go under the radar.

    Kaeo Weekes

In my opinion, not logically. The Raiders are not a financially struggling club. Ricky has been there for 11 seasons and made the finals 5 times. Before he was their coach, they'd made the finals 20 times in 32 seasons, so his strike rate is statistically lower than their average. Whether his...

    Kaeo Weekes

As coach he has made the finals series 9 times in his 21 seasons as an NRL coach... and has only made the finals 6 times in the past 20 years. To me it doesn't make sense that anyone here is entertaining the thought of having him here.

I think in hindsight, the think the wheels were in motion when the players thought they should be making coaching decisions.

Jake Trbojevic offers nothing in attack

This might be sacrilege but I'm not sure the team missed him on the field last night. Tevaga did a good job. Jake could be moved to prop... but as with lock forward, we have faster, cheaper and more mobile options there as well.

That market rate is being inflated because it has been telegraphed that we apparently want/need him. We need a decent plan B because otherwise we'll end up overpaying for someone who'll be 32 by Round 1 next year...

In my opinion it would be Tom, but he's unfortunately limited by his injuries.

    NRL Games [Round 7, 2025]

I feel like the players that would have been second-rowers 5-10 years ago are the ideal props of today. The Bulldogs don't look like they have props that just cart it up the middle. Across their entire forward pack, they are getting quick play-the-balls and moving the opposition defenders...

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Dragons [Round 7, 2025]

They don't assign grades or charged for incidents that are referred directly to the judiciary... So, if he's found guilty (I'll be amazed if he isn't), then I'm pretty sure they can pick and choose any punishment they deem appropriate... regardless of whether or not it relates to the grading table.

Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

There needs to be a circuit breaker for this season very soon, or we are at risk of missing the top 8. If that means benching a high-profile player for a week for substandard performances (due to medical reasons or otherwise), then so be it.

    How do we unlock Koula?

He was previously at right centre next to DCE and the same issue was being pinned on DCE... which is probably partially true, but the common denominator is Tolu himself. Despite his proven toughness and athleticism, he doesn't often seem to keep the opposition guessing with soft hands, a...

Seems a pretty safe bet that Bulldogs will finish Top 4 this year.

    apocalypse or opportunity ...

Opportunity. If we choose from within or recruit well, then we should not only have a good replacement but also have an extra $400k or so to spend on players surrounding the new half-back. A sober reminder... We've tried having a single player on 16% of the salary cap and surrounding him with...
