I think if Jake changed how he trained (more for power and less for endurance) we could see him be a bit more like how he was back in his earlier career. And yes I would rather see him in the prop rotation.
He's getting better all the time. There are plenty of other second rowers in the NRL I'd have instead of him in the starting side, but none of them play for Manly.
We need to turn Jake back into an impact forward. His long minutes at lock just don't work as well as what we could get out of him sharing the lock role with Tevaga or Navale.
I'd be happy if we get him but I really hope the rest of our cap management allows for the recruitment of a couple of very good forwards too.
If any two out of the three of Zaidas, Large, or Walsh are pushing into First Grade next year then all we need is a good prop and a good second rower and...
If Turbo and Paseka had played we would have won at least two out of those last 3 matches.
Take the best back and best forward out of any team and they will struggle.
I hope we don't get into a bidding war. Turbo to 5/8 is worth a punt if Fogarty becomes too expensive. No point throwing the kitchen sink at a guy who won't be part of our long term plans.
I was all for staying in DCE's corner for the sake of preserving the season but if he can't turn his form around soon we may as well punt him now and start planning for 2026
