    They did buy in cheaply , and now getting a decent return on investment ( I think ) with the NRL covering all the big expenses. They are wealthy , but certainly not uber rich. I think the being overseas and not really involved is probably the biggest thing.

    Yes I think that’s a smart approach , it’s a bit like Jamie Humphrey’s or Kaeo Weekes , both left for first grade starts as they couldn’t get that with us. There’s bound to be players waiting for a chance

    I’m not actually trying to balance the budget just point out that we will have money to enter the market. Trying to get anyone to join us is the first hurdle.

    It’s hard to see Croker ever returning and clearly AoA is gone , so it’s just a matter of if they are going to keep costing us & doing nothing , or we can get rid of them ( nicely ) so they still get their contracts paid. I hope it’s the latter so they can be replaced.

    Plenty of name calling has been going both ways for a fair while now, sadly there’s a real divide between those anti & and those ambivalent. Who knows what will happen but I’m almost at the not caring now stage anyhow.

    He’s on about $750-$800k I’d hardly call that “ low ball . Whilst we all love Ruebs , would you ( it’s your choice ) if you were in charge pay him say 1.1 million to play winger ?? He’ll get that to play fullback in Perth. If so good luck to him but it’ll be “ bye Ruebs “ for me.

    Sadly I think Matt is a long way from a first grade coach , he was tried in the lower grades at Manly but wasn’t a success ( from a source I still have ), some can be great players , but not necessarily great coaches. He’s working his way through the Brisbane system so may well be good at some...

    I think so , but can negotiate for 27 & beyond after November 1st. Great respect for Rueben but there’s no way if the Bears offer him 1.2 million that we can say anything other than , “ farewell and thanks fir the memories “.

    You want my opinion ?? Never The NRL would love all games to be played out of the three major stadiums , just like they do with the AFL.

    It shouldn’t be used to Rort the system for an older player BUT any player who can no longer get on the field due to injuries incurred because of the game should be able to be paid out and retired and not affect the clubs cap.

    Yep I see us as being in real danger. If we fold that’s the end for me , the NRL will be dead as far as I’m concerned concerned.
