Interesting idea. Maybe Manly over Dragons 61-0 could be next!

What would Twitter have said about John Sattler playing almost the entire 1970 Grand Final with a badly broken jaw? It’s time to find out.

The world has changed significantly in 44 years, so we go back to a pivotal game in the history of South Sydney and rugby league – the 1970 Grand Final between Souths and Manly – to imagine what Twitter would have looked like had it been used at the time.

The 1970 Grand Final saw the Rabbitohs notch up their 19th Premiership crown. But the now famed match produced much more than just another Rabbitohs Grand Final win, rather providing one of the most enduring images of toughness that the game has ever seen in the form of Souths Captain, John Sattler, playing almost the entire match with a badly broken jaw courtesy of a John Bucknall punch.

So take a journey back to the 1970’s by pressing play on the video player.

What they don't tell you is what Sattler was doing prior to him getting a retaliation from Bucknall.

Anyway, hope their last GF in 1971 stays that way for centuries to come.

Souffs really are the pride of the league you know.......they did win 20 premierships until 1971, and since then they have on many occasions been the March premiers, April premiers, May premiers, June premiers.....ah you get the idea lol.

I hate that game, saw it in tele at dy hotel in the 80s. At the time I was a little ignorant of history and was expecting a win!
