So you aren't including Menzies tries for the Northern Eagles or Manly Warringah??

I can't see Smoking Joes cracking the 100 game mark next year, he is 28 shy. Trial games don't count do they?

Did I need to state that Menzies was clearly 1st, noting his number isn't likely to be caught in 2013?

Re: Joe (and Farrar) I can't see it either but I did state 'potential' and with each club having the chance to play 28 games in a season (24 regular, 4 finals), then those milestones are added, no matter how unlikely.

HH - fair point on Beaver. I just like to see his name up in lights at every opportunity :D Actually I think I read that stat incorrectly to begin with lol.

I hope Vic hits the 50 game milestone for the club next season. Seeing as his 1st game was back in 2007 it's been a long time in the making.

It's astounding that Souths and Easts have been around as long as they have and not produced as many 200 gamers or 300 gamers.

It comes back to the culture of their footy clubs.

Until 1947, no team played more than 17 games in a season, with no regular season exceeding 16 games. As a part-time game for most of our history, there were plenty that missed games due to work commitments and some of the best regularly missed chunks of a season due to sailing to Britain for tours.

It took until the late 60's before the competition started seeing the number of games per season getting close to what we are used to now.

So you'll find that we didn't have that many either for the first 20 years (if any at all) and they only started appearing out of debuts from the 70's.

Still a healthy record and the envy of many clubs over the last 40 years, but how long clubs have been in the competition in total is an irrelevent point.

According to the NRL Stats there are 79 players who have played 250+ games. 28 of those have played 250 for the one club.

Manly need 82 tries to reach 5000 first grade tries. Interestingly, the Bulldogs need 70 to reach 5000 tries and they had a 12 year head start on Manly. 12 year head start and only 12 tries ahead.

I prefer the term "kilometrerocks."

After all, tis the metric system.
