I really do hope we at least fight for the bottom part of the top 8.

I don't see TB lasting if we are in the same position this time next year.

A very disheartening 2016, I hope a lot of people take stock over the off season and realise the damage their own personal agendas / political games they are playing is destroying this club at its core and has to stop.

I will never give on this club I love , these poor seasons really make you appreciate the good times.

I see us probably 7-8th in 2017
2018 not much better
2019 I see us fighting for a top 4 spot
2020-2025 is our next premiership window in my eyes.

I'm a staunch Toovey supporter but Barrett has had to put up with one of the worse injury plagued seasons I can remember. Granted he's made a few puzzling team selections but he seems to be learning on the run.

We haven't won many games of late but I've been pretty happy with how the teams been competing in the latter part of the season, so that's a major positive as far as I'm concerned.

With the emergence of some promising young forwards and hopefully one or two astute purchases, I can't see why we won't be trading blows with the heavyweights next year.

Least ways that's the dream I've chosen to get me through the off season !

Im no more confident for next year than i am for this year;

Another new halves pairing.
Brett stewart playing fullback and never being close to 100%
Myles being worse and older than this year ( wont play origin)
No Jamie Lyon
Plus all the other new combinations we will have.

I will be suprised if we make the eight next year.

Pleased you are on board with my 5 year plan!!

Unless we cop an injury wipe out like we had this year, I can see Manly getting into the lower end of the 8 in 2017. 2018 I can see them up around 4-5. By 2019 I believe we'll be a major contestant for the title. But that all depends on us holding onto the players we've got and coming through such as DCE, Walker, TT, Jake T, Buhrer, Parcell, Taupau, Fonoa-Blake, Lussick, Knight, Parker, J and A Hopoate, T. Wright, plus some additions

2017 is when our new era starts. Lyon and Stewart will be gone and Matai is highly likely to retire means our new leaders will have to stand up. Firstly our coach Barrett is in many ways an unknown, if you think he is crap have a look what he has had to deal with. He has been forced into some selections which have been poor e.g. Dylan Walker. If you think he is good look at his team structures which have been pretty poor. I'm on the fence with Barrett but if he gets a good year with injuries and a good draw we will be a top 8 force. If we keep Trbojevic, Green, Cherry-Evans and Parcell on the field for the majority of the year we will make the 8. If those 4 get injuries a lot we will experience another 2016 season. Let's look at things that have been positive from our 2016 season that will go on into 2017.
-Jake Trbojevic and Jamie Buhrer have become our new co captains
-DCE has developed good combos with key players Buhrer and Tom
-Tom has become a superstar and will be the future star of the comp
-We have a great pack with Lussick, Taupau, Buhrer, Trbojevic, Fonua-Blake all in form and it's starting to take shape with Meehan, J Hopoate and Knight coming through meaning we have one of the best packs in the league with possible additions of Gillett and Asofa-Solomona
-Everyone now has a full year together knowing each other's strengths and plays
We have many more but they are the main ones which will have a 2017 impact we will be top 8 as long as our spine stays together cause that is one of the best spines in the NRL. Here's our possible team line up and squad where it is at now.

1: T Trbojevic
2: J Taufua
3: D Walker
4:
5:
6: B Green
7: D Cherry-Evans
8: J Trbojevic (c)
9: M Parcell
10: D Lussick
11: M Taupau
12:
13: J Buhrer (c)

14: A Koroisau
15: A Fonua-Blake
16: N Myles
17:

Backups:
Fullback- T Wright
Wing- M Wright
Centre- B Williame, B Parker
Five-Eight- C Cullen, N Hynes
Halfback- P Godinet
Hooker-
Prop- L Knight, W Meehan
Second Row- L Brown, N Green, F Winterstein, B Bainbridge
Lock- J Hopoate

That's our squad without any of our rumoured signings as yet, if you add Gillett, Roberts, Asofa-Solomona and possibly Uate it's a top 8 team and if we can get less injuries and a good draw we will possibly be top 6. We just need to buy some quality backs preferably a centre, winger and some back ups in the backline, a back rower maybe another prop and we will be set. A new goal kicker would also be nice and we will have heaps of cash with Lyon, Stewart, Matai and all the dead wood leaving we should have some good cash to spend but no waste, Roberts is a must if not 2017 than 18.

This Winterstein could be a late bloomer.

Winterstein is no spring chicken Woodsie. One would have thought his late blooming should have started a few years back. He'll be 30 later this year. He'd only played 5 games in the NRL before joining Manly, having been something of a journeyman around the SuperLeague traps for many years. I wonder if Manly's recruitment thought they were getting his cousin who plays wing for the Cowboys. Now that kid knows how to reach the try line.

I agree but with less injuries I think we can sneak into the 8.

I actually think our roster is every bit as good as the Dogs or the Raiders.

The fact that Roosters and Bunnies will both win more games next year, Parra have won a lot more games than us means if we dont improve we will be spoon contenders.

I think we'll have another shocker in 2017.
At least in 2015 we were given hope when our Under 20s reached the Grand Final, and we still had three champions in first grade. This season has been a disaster in all grades. What's to look forward to? Our three champions will be gone, or over the hill, and we'll have Mr Plod being picked simply because we paid too much money for him.
My only hope is that there is some talent out Blacktown way because we now are one of the worst clubs in the premiership.

I think I'd be pretty close if I assume we'll lose all three grades (again) next week. That has our club sitting like this to finish the season:

SG Ball: 9 rounds, 1 win
NYC: 26 rounds, 3 wins
NSW Cup: 26 rounds, 6 wins
1st Grade: 26 rounds, 8 wins

As a club:
87 rounds, 18 wins or a 20% win rate.
EDIT: Haven't taken into consideration byes, so it's not actually that bad.

Late September 2017
Captain Jake T. holds up the Premiership trophy after beating the donkeys 51-nil.
2018 - All the other coaches start buying the same hair gel as Trent. Bennett gets a Barrett wig to help his coaching.

Why are we even discussing this now when the make up of our team is as yet unknown.

Let's say ( and agree a big IF) if we signed Gillettt / Solomona it would change our thoughts overnight.

Let's have this discussion in January.
Why? Nothing else to do but think and ponder what could and might have been .......

FYI

A good stat I read is that we ranked 6th for run metres in the comp this year.
This put us infront of packs like the Broncs, raiders, tigers etc. quite impressive really.

With our injection of youth in the forward pack for 2017 hopefully we can improve again.

The fact we finished 6th for run metres really highlights how we are obviously struggling in the backline. If we can improve there - we'll climb the ladder.

Bring on 2017

It's actually a really simple fix called Green. Having a specialist 5/8 will turn our whole team around

I'm making the big call and not cause I'm a huge manly fan... Should we have a good year in the injury department and Green turn out to be the stabiliser at five-eighth then I see us a premiership threat with a finish in fourth. The only thing working against us is that bonding time with yet another half pairing and some additions to the side although I still believe we can do it. Lowest we will finish unless another injury crisis strikes again is 7th for mine.

We will Mark but it will be on 5 different threads by then...
