Not long now till the 2025 draw will be announced. Last year it came out 13 November.

This year we got Melbourne, Panthers & Roosters twice which I thought would not be real good but we were 50/50 with all of them.

Hopefully we will get a Cronulla type draw in 2025.

There was word around a month or two ago that Souths were looking at hosting us at Allianz on the Thursday night before ANZAC Day on the Friday.

Interesting to see what happens with magic round. Bronc v us is a Friday night tradition, just hope it’s their home game not ours. That said it would be good to see us against another side and maybe Sat or Sunday arvo.

Remember seeing an SMH (?) article saying that we would have the bye in Magic Round. We bloody deserve it after all these years...

Though if the WCC gets moved to magic round, that could change, smh...

No, we only played Melbourne once in 2024 -- and we beat them.

I quite enjoy attending Magic Round and would hope we don't have the bye next year just because we're not giving the Broncos another home game for the 10th year in a row...

Not expecting the draw to be too different next year. No one cares about Cronulla so they will continue to get 2x games against the lower sides in the non-primetime slots. One thing that could be good though is the Dogs getting bigger and tougher games after their run this year.

All I really hope for us (and for the rest of the comp, too) is that we aren't playing teams for the first time in rounds 25-27 like we did this year, but playing Parramatta twice before the end of April. Surely the NRL can balance things out a bit better than that.

It wont be our home game, the club has already confirmed all 12 games will be at Brookie next season.

I thought we had a favourable draw last year but we blew it losing to sides we should have beaten and on occasion surrendering a good lead.

NRL 2025 draw: Broncos set to launch Magic Round against Panthers; possible Rabbitohs-Dolphins clash for Rd 1

Magic Round is set for some schedule changes in 2025, setting up a blockbuster clash for the Broncos, while Wayne Bennett could be headed back to Redcliffe in Round 1.

The Broncos are set to launch next year’s NRL Magic Round in Brisbane with a blockbuster clash against four-time premiers Penrith.
The NRL is in the final stages of preparing its 2025 Premiership draw, which is expected to be released in mid-November.
The Sharks, Raiders, Warriors and Panthers will kick-off the season in Las Vegas on the first weekend in March.
Magic Round will once again be held in Brisbane, most likely in early May again, after the Queensland Government secured the premiership’s flagship event until 2027.

But there will be some changes to the Magic Round schedule next year.
The Broncos have traditionally faced Manly in the Friday night prime time clash.
But the Sea Eagles won’t be selling a home game next year, opening the door for the Broncos to face a new opponent.
That is looking like it will be Penrith given the Panthers are without a home ground in 2025 and will be a “home” team at Magic Round.

WAYNE BENNETT BOWL

– Dean Ritchie
In what would be a massive Round 1 grudge match next season, the NRL is considering sending new South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett back to Queensland to confront his former club, the Dolphins.
While unconfirmed, multiple sources have told this masthead that an opening round option for the 2025 draw would immediately pitting Bennett against the club he coached for the past two seasons.
Bennett’s mooted return to Brisbane in his first game back as Rabbitohs’ coach would attract a crowd of around 35,000.
A motorsport event – called the Race of Champions – will be held at Accor Stadium on Friday, March 7, precluding Souths from using their home venue in Round 1.

Wayne Bennett could come up against the Dolphins in Round 1 2025.

The NRL is currently working on the ’25 draw which should be released in mid-November.
All clubs are asked to submit special requests to be included in the draw with Bennett’s Bunnies playing the Dolphins having widespread appeal in Sydney and Brisbane.
The match, should it materialise, would also allow new Dolphins coach, Kristian Woolf, to try and grab an early victory over his former mentor.
One official described Bennett v Dolphins in Round 1 as a “drawcard.”
“It would make sense,” he said.
“It would be a mouth-watering prospect.”
The NRL often attempts to arrange a rival round to kickstart their season.
Clubs are patiently waiting for the draw to be announced before starting to target potential season ticket holders.

The NRL has a challenging task nailing down the draw amid multiple requests and demands from all clubs.
Bennett’s possible return to Suncorp Stadium would ensure mass pre-game exposure in Brisbane.
The match could also allow fans to watch Latrell Mitchell, provided the mooted pre-season All Stars game cancels out his one-game suspension.
A seven-time premiership-winning coach, Bennett has rejoined Souths after previously coaching the club between 2019 and 2021.
He has been dubbed a Souths’ saviour after the club run second-last this year, recording just seven wins from 24 games.
The NRL’s Las Vegas extravaganza – involving Canberra, Warriors, Penrith and Cronulla – will be played at Allegiant Stadium on March 1 in America, a week before the remainder of round one is completed in Australia.
Bennett is adored in Brisbane but left the Broncos – after his second stint at the club in 2018 – amid controversy and bitterness.
The big grudge matches next season will include Penrith v Parramatta (both sides play out of CommBank Stadium), Melbourne v Penrith, Souths v Roosters, Broncos v Dolphins and Manly v Parramatta.

NRL 2025: Manly Sea Eagles formally request to play Brisbane Broncos at Brookvale for first time in 10 years

The Broncos’ 10-year streak of not playing at Manly’s home ground could be set to change, with the Sea Eagles requesting Brisbane head to Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 2025, along with two other big clubs.

We want the Broncos back at Brookie – along with the Eels and Roosters.
Manly has formally requested that the NRL send Brisbane back to Brookvale Oval for a sellout game this coming season after a whopping ten-year absence.
It is the longest period that an opposition side hasn’t played a rival team’s regular home venue.
Manly has been financially compensated for taking home games to Brisbane since 2016.
But that deal has now elapsed and Manly hopes the star-studded Broncos will be directed to Sydney’s Northern Beaches when the NRL draw is released next week.
“We want the Broncos to play at 4 Pines Park,” confirmed Manly CEO Tony Mestrov.

The last time Brisbane played at Brookvale was August 1, 2014.
This masthead can also reveal the Sea Eagles have asked the NRL that Parramatta and the Sydney Roosters play games at 4 Pines Park next season.
They are three games Manly insist will be immediate sellouts.
With Manly fans having flocked to Brookvale this year, the club doesn’t require the financial inducement of taking more home games to Magic Round.
“We haven’t played Brisbane at 4 Pines Park since 2014 so we have put in a request to play them at home. It would be exciting to play the Broncos at Brookvale,” Mestrov said.

“We definitely put the Broncos forward because we haven’t played them at home for so long. I dare say that would be a sellout.
“This coming season, we won’t be playing a home game at Magic Round. Parramatta and the Roosters are also historic games for us.
“They would be big crowd pullers. We are looking for home matches where we will get a big following. Parramatta is always massive and would be a sellout.

“Every club gets requested by the NRL to nominate what home games they would like to play. We also let the NRL know that our contract for Magic Round had ceased.”
While plans are still in their infancy, Mestrov did say talks were gently progressing around the possibility of increasing the crowd capacity at Brookvale.

All clubs are encouraged to submit preferred games and dates to the NRL before the draw is announced with the governing body attempting to accommodate as many requests as possible.
Manly attracted 164,728 fans through the 4 Pines gates this season for an average crowd of 16,473.
The Sea Eagles failed to post more than 16,000 just once this year – a wet round nine game against Canberra.
Manly will now play 12 home games at 4 Pines Park next year.
The Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels always enjoyed a fierce rivalry during the 1980s.
Further details of Manly’s proposed Brookvale Oval redevelopment will emerge over the next year.

How will some Silvertails handle it if Manly lost to the Broncos at Brookvale, given their outrage that the club gave up home games to Brisbane, thus apparently causing Manly to miss 2 points so often?
