2027 Targets

With November 1 quickly approaching, it is arguably the biggest off-season the club has had in over a decade. For the first time in a long time, Manly have a lot of cash to spend given our recent departures and possibly more to come for 2027 (e.g. Garrick, Brooks.) With the club desperately needing to bolster up our forward pack, these would be some amazing targets for Manly to identify.

Prop: Payne Haas, Lindsay Smith, Liam Henry, Ata Mariota, Griffin Neame, Kaiden Lahrs
Second-Row: Beau Fermor, Keaon Koloamatangi, Angus Crichton, Siua Wong, Shawn Blore, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava
Lock: Tino Fa'asuamaleaui (if he becomes available), Blake Steep, Kit Laulilii, Morgan Smithies, Josh Curran, Lipoi Hopoi

Yeah, it's like going to an up market restaurant and ordering the best on the menu. Maybe few of these might not be out of the question.

Why would any decent player come to us, other than for very favourable contract terms/$? If you look at any of the finals sides you can see how each would be attractive to a new recruit - playing style, club culture, player development, coaching, career opportunities etc. We offer next to nothing on any of those fronts. If I was a player thinking which club offers me the best environment to improve as a player, I can’t see how we would not be in the bottom 4 of that list. So yeah, we may have some money to throw around, but it will more likely than not be spent on overpaying.
