A proud record at 'Fortress Brookie'

Will history repeat itself at ‘The Fortress’, Brookvale Oval, on Monday, March 21, when the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks head to a very unhappy hunting ground?

The Sharks have not beaten the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval since March 15 of the 2008 season and have won just five times at the ground. Manly have beaten the Sharks on 32 occassions at Brookvale with just one match drawn.

On that particular Saturday night, the Sea Eagles led 8-6 at half-time before the Sharks went on to win 16-10 through tries to Bryson Goodwin and Brett Kearney in front of a crowd of 15, 424.

Ironically, Kearney today is working for the Sea Eagles as a Business Development Executive in the corporate sales team.

The only two surviving players from the Sea Eagles line up that night are full-back Brett Stewart and captain Jamie Lyon, who played five-eighth in the match. The referee was Jared Maxwell.

Furthermore, the last time the Sharks beat the Sea Eagles was in 2012, a 17-14 victory at their home ground.

As for Monday night football, the last time the Sharks won away was in 2008.

Both teams will again play for the Steve Rogers Memorial Trophy, named in honour of the former great Sharks, NSW and Australian player.

Rogers had many great friends at the Sea Eagles in Bob Fulton and Max Krilich with the teams playing for the trophy the first time they meet each season in a premiership match.

Manly Warringah currently hold the trophy following last year’s win at Brookvale Oval.

The Sea Eagles are also offering the chance for supporters to purchase a general admission ticket for just $19.78 - that's a huge saving of 30%.

The $19.78 Adult Ticket has an option to redeem up to 2 free Junior tickets. Junior tickets must be redeemed online or over the phone during the purchase process.

This offer will run until Midnight Sunday March 20. On Game day Adult tickets will return to the regular Game Day price, with no complimentary Junior ticket available.

Cronulla have looked stronger than Manly so far this season but hopefully the home ground advantage and history are on Manly's side and they manage to conjure up a win.

Sharks by plenty ( without Brett) and by a few ( with Brett), just for his organisation at the back.

We will win this one and Wiliame will be man of the match....
Seriously we will win this because ....
History just about always repeats itself and we do have the Jinx on the Goldfish
We don't want to lose 2 in a row at home and we will want the win more than the Goldfish
There was improvement from last week and this should give us confidence and belief that we can continue our winning record against the Goldfish

I hope you're right, but don't rely on history, we are very ordinary at the moment
