Make Manly Great Again #Hasler2019
This is brilliant

Very true. As has been said on here, rugby league should be a simple game, but technology has complicated interpretations. Gut feel is right most of the times - it certainly is right more often than when the action is slowed down per frame, and video refs can mindread what the intenions of players were.
We need to go back to the 'core' laws of the game. Start there, such as a player having control of the ball in order to score a try, and only add new rules when absolutely necessary.

Have one referee make all the decisions and bring in captain's call. Do what the NFL does. Have a screen on the side lines and have the ref on the field make the decsions. This means the buck stops with that referee and, if the Captain doesn't believe he made the right decision THEN it goes to a party not based at the ground but at NRL headquarters.

Not sure why Kasiano's disallowed try was mentioned. It was a simple one IMO and 'No Try' was the right call. Pritchard impeded the defence. Had Pritchard kept running through the line there would be no problem. The fact he stopped and came into contact with the defenders means no try.
A lot of controversy can be eliminated form Rugby League if they did two things:
1. Put the word 'control' back into the rule book in regards to scoring a try.
2. Get rid of the 'played at the ball' rule. Who ever touches it last, intentionally or not, should be deemed to have played at the ball. It should not be left to the referee to decide whether a player intentionally played at the ball.

Looks like bill and stu raper are going to get the punt. With Russell Smith or Archer getting the job. Smith was hopeless as a referee and if archer gets it we lose the best ref. I think Steve Clarke would do a great job or mccullum

The rules have slowly been changing over the years to give the refs more discretion. This means the refs have more power to decide the outcome of a game than ever before and also means it is rarely possible to prove that a ref made a wrong decision as the decisions are so subjective (Did he play at the ball? Was the tackle dominent? etc. etc.).

It is about time the NRL changed direction on this. The good thing about RL is that it is a simple game, and to the rules should stay as simple as possible.

Go back to one referee. Then we only get one interpretation of the rules.

Currently, the 3 between them take forever to make a decision and are always conflicted amongst themselves.

There will always be bad calls - let's live in an imperfect world

:) same address for the prime minster except Canberra instead of head quarters.

Fatal flaw with his application process is that it requires fully functioning eyesight in order to read the letter. It's patently obvious that ability is in short supply at Referees headquarters. Perhaps a "talking book" type application may have served him better.

Having been to a multitude of games at brookie over 40 odd years I firmly believe the crowd have a gut feel for what has happened on the field. You can feel the slump when a try is scored against manly and most feel it is a real try. Also the anger when a try should be disallowed by the other team. The players always know too. The so called tryscorer may fake a celebration but the rest of them betray it with body language.
