Are we seeing THAT Manly team again??

First Grader
Life after Stewarts, Lyon and Matai looked Gloomy...throw in King, Kite, Ballin ect
As we all have been spoiled with massive success the past decade plus....the thought of rebuilding was scary - as the culture of Manly has seemed on the decline with it.
Looking on - we have "Under The Radar" built an Amazing team that is FULL of youth and ability, who based on - YES - only 2 last games - That unrivalled Manly culture other clubs only dream of......Massive credit to the recruitment team who have had many scratching their heads.
The signing of Paseka is a statement of intent - a giant with potential who could be anything, to compliment the skills of Sirro and Lane, young gun front rower Perrett who will be great off the bench, Kapow and big AFB as the strongmen - and the old heads like BJ (In career form again) and Myles, who recently justifies his Manly colours....
Throw in the Hastings signing as a gun utility player, Brian Kelly who will challenge for rookie of 2017, Uate who is showing a change of club was all he needed to fire and the most important component are the Turbo's, who are the Jewel in the crown.
The million dollar man DCE is performing like a champion, rather than buying into the negative press and Taufua is involved like he can, while the signing of Green, to add experience and polish, has proven top shelf.
I don't want to get carried away after 2 games, so success in 2017 is a huge bonus after what was expected early on - Now really pumped about the long term success, because what I can really see here - is a YOUTH policy of quality YOUNG players to ensure long term - not overnight success.....check out the age of these signings
Well played to the Recruitment team who don't get much credit....and Barrett, who with so many new faces....is showing signs of not just getting the players into the Manly way - but buying into it himself....

Loving the positivity bro - hope it all comes to fruition with a finals berth

I think the recruitment strategy has been a well-thought out one. Look for younger players who stand out in NYC and for other players who are still young and for some reason are on the nose at other clubs (Hastings/Uate/Siro for example). The point being, when they are young, they are cheaper and sometime other clubs are paying some of their salary for us! We have invested heavily in DCE, the turbo bros and probably walker/kapow - but with all the youth we have who are desperate to make a name for themselves, it seems we have a very well balanced side. Will be interesting who we target for 2018. Most people agree that a very good second rower is what we should go for. I personally think a marqee winger, hooker and second rower is what we should be looking at.

I'd say hopefully that's what we're seeing and also right now Lane is basically nothing - he's NSW Cup material. I feel like that Lurker post the other week about a Manly player nicknamed turnstyle was about Lane.

Have actually noticed his defence scratchy, particularly against agile attack.....a fan of his attacking lines, but this could be his problem area, which is why he has struggled maintaining a top grade spot....though Manly have been racking up big points last 2 wins - it is no doubt on the back of solid defence and a new energetic, unpredictable attack, so till he is up to it - will have to improve at Blacktown.

Which team will we see tonight?
With the comp soooo tight if we can somehow jag a win tonite ugly or not it would be a massive boost to our finals aspirations.. 3 wins on the trot would be fantastic. That said, remember given the nature of our comp and so many teams on similar points every year, for and against is a critical consideration too that not many mention. Be heartbreaking to miss finals this year because we dropped off in a few games and leaked late points. If we can avoid blowouts when we lose and play out a few 80 minute effort big wins here and there we're in with a shot.
