As a champion player, I personally didn't see it translate into coaching and he was given a few chances.

New coach required for Black Town then with Matty gone . Didn 't seem to play much of a role with the i st grade in any case and even less opportunity with the reserve comp suspended for a good part of the year .Still will always have a special connection with Manly though , one of the great careers actually considering his durability and premiership successes .
