Your'e about right Nicci.

And if sharks fans think there's nothing in it, they are living in the tank alongside the other fish.

Nervous times for sharkies fans. Feel for them actually. They've been shafted too.
I hope they survive this as a club.. As Manly supporters we know what it's like to be under siege.

Just watched part of it. Cullen did a job on the Sharks. What about the NRLs ability to oversee the cap and other payments? Without whistle-blowers both the Storm and now the Shark's misdemeanours would never have been exposed. There has to be an investigation of the NRL's auditing department, and the immediate outsourcing to one of the big four for auditing of all clubs. The cosy arrangements with clubs that Shubert has overseen have to stop. Shubert has to be sacked immediately.

All respect to Schubert, great player, no doubt a great bloke. And I've no reason to doubt his integrity. But forensic accounting/auditing is a specialised profession. DSM-V is right with step one of what needs to be done if they want to take the salary cap seriously.

The Sharks were one of the reasons Super League got of the ground resulting in the almost demise of Manly, so they can go and get stuffed.

Bye Bye Cronulla Sharks, Hello Perth Sharks.

Perth may get a NRL spot at the Sharks expense, but not "Sharks".

1. Perth people won't want to be saddled with a tainted brand.
2. Far too many real shark attacks in that part of the world for a team to use that as its name and logo.

Rothfield is going off at Cullen on twitter so I decided to poke a stick at him.

If the Sharks are rorting the cap imagine what must go on at clubs that actually perform well with a good roster.

Agree with most of that. There definitely needs to be 3rd party independent audits of the clubs. However there still needs to be someone in charge of the cap from the NRL. In saying that if clubs want to cheat the cap they will. It would be very hard for anyone to pick up on cash payments coming from a sponsor to a player.

I do remember they super leagued. I certainly hated all that business. They sold out but there were a lot bigger powers at play than the sharks when that was going down.
You just reminded me of the Northern Eagles nightmare.
I still feel for the fans as they are always powerless.

I think the issue with 3rd party audits is simply that the cap isn't really 100% legal is it?

Odd ...for some reason Fox and even SMH don't seem to have picked this story up yet. Something larger is afoot, methinks (but hopefully that's just my pessimistic nature)

Would love to see how the Bronco's kept basically the entire Queensland and Australian team under the salary cap during the early and mid nineties.

All of that went down in a plane with Ken Talbot.

There would be many instances of third party payments to players over the years that will never see the light of day.
