Does anyone know if any of those councillors who are against the Brookvale Oval redevelopment retained their seats?.

Reading the Manly Daily online they are saying 5 of the 9 current councillers are in trouble - looks Regan, Gillitan will get in which is good news.

Hopefully Deluca, Kirsch, Harris & co get the #a*rse

The Greenies took a hiding on the Peninsular. Warringah Council had more than their fair share. Hope for Manly supporters and the people of Warringah things do change post Council Elections.

Greenies...not a fan

Greenies on the nose, right across Australia!!!

Australia has finally woken up to them. Many redevelopments regarding football fields in the inner city have been put on hold due to them. We Manly supporters are not the only people that has suffered. Local Juniors comps with reference to all sports have been caught up in there stupidity.

Hopefully Kirsch gets the punt as well.

Conny Harris.

THE Greens are set to be annihilated on Warringah Council as their candidates have so far failed to secure a single seat.

The party has only one remaining candidate - Christina Kirsch in A Ward - with any chance of getting a seat.

Greens mayoral candidate Conny Harris, who lost her seat in C Ward, said the outcome was a surprise.

"We thought we would get in," she said.

In the last council, there were two Greens councillors and this year the party fielded nine candidates across the three wards.

Cr Harris has attributed the poor vote to Mayor Michael Regan's popularity and a backlash against The Greens at the federal level.

She said that the most recent survey of residents found they were more appreciative of councillors' performances than at the beginning of the council's term.

But in their bid to retain the "hugely popular" Cr Regan, residents had inadvertedly voted out much of the rest of the council, Cr Harris said.

Swings against The Greens were reported throughout Sydney in areas including Marrickville, Leichhardt and Waverley.

In contrast, The Greens in Pittwater had a win, with candidate Selena Griffith likely to bring a Greens presence to the council.

No Greens councillors were elected to Pittwater Council in 2008.

On Manly Council, Greens Cr Cathy Griffin was expected to retain her spot with a reduced vote.

Kleenex needed!
i think you will find the greens prefer the use of a hankerchief, for a reduced environmental impact. I believe they are looking at introducing a policy to ban the use of tissues and replace it with the air blow, or sleave wipe.

I just wrote a nice e-mail to Conny Harris :) about Ms Kirsch, and the affect her ideas have had on the rest of their local group.

Conny is a great lady and, even though she's a Greenie, she has been a very good councillor. It's real unfortunate that she lost her seat but people like De Luca and Kirsch were able to retain their seats. Doesn't matter anyway, Regan has enough control over the council numbers wise to making both of them powerless.

Well done Mayor Regan, you've done a good job so far, now you might be able to do something with control of the council.

Apparently Candy Bingham is good for Manly....

or so it says over there ------->

HUGE support for Michael Regan in Warringah has resulted in him romping home in the mayoral election and securing a commanding majority on council for the first time.

Cr Regan was easily re-elected mayor on Saturday and got at least five of his Your Warringah team members elected.

This was a big increase on the two teammates he got elected in 2008 and it will give him a majority on the 10-member council for the first time.

The result will also set up a council of almost entirely new faces.

Other than Cr Regan, the only other former councillor to secure a seat so far is Bob Giltinan.

Councillors who have lost their seats include Jason Falinski, Virginia Laugesen and Greens councillor Conny Harris.

The Greens looked unlikely to get any candidates across the line. Christina Kirsch will battle councillor Vincent De Luca for the final seat in A Ward.

Councillors Michelle Ray and Helen Wilkins, who were not leading tickets, will also not be re-elected.

Those joining the council from Cr Regan's Your Warringah team include Wayne Gobert and Vanessa Moskal in A Ward and Roslyn Harrison and Duncan Kerr in C Ward.

In B Ward, Sue Heins has been elected.

Cr Regan said he was "ecstatic" about the results and thought residents would see a more "positive-focused council".

Other likely newcomers include Salvation Army manager Pat Daley and his team member Jose Menano-Pires.

You beauty – especially like the fact that Kirsch and De Luca are battling for the last spot. Watch De Luca change his stripes now that he will be on his own if he wants to oppose everything that is put forward. He wasn’t a greenie but from what I could tell he had sided with the three greenies on the council on most issues.

Sooo....... how much money is the club getting now?
Nothing from the council, but with the majority of councillors in favour of a redevelopment , perhaps they may apply for funding, but probably only with the liberals, with labor we're no chance.

Nothing at the moment but maybe the council will be able to to put a proposal together for State/Federal funding. I also note that one of Regan's priorities is to put a masterplan together for Brookvale - I hope that would include the Oval

That's Manly, not Warringah.

That advert deal expires tomorrow afternoon, but glad to see it was noticed, might be nice to have some inroads into the council down there with the site

The masterplan he refers to, (I would think) is finishing off the one already in play. That includes more seating in front of the JT and KA stands. Further improvements at the back of the JT and KA, plus the improvements to both hill areas, with better access paths, new kiosks etc.

He also has plans to improve the playing surface. Apparently no plans at the moment to get rid of the bench seats.

Maybe now with the Greens influence negated, they might be able to get the ground naming rights issue resolved.
