BRISBANE centre Justin Hodges is in danger of missing the remainder of the State of Origin series after being issued a grade three dangerous throw charge by the NRL match review committee.
An early guilty plea will wipe the Maroons ace out for six matches after he tipped Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell on his head midway through the first half of Friday night's clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Hodges is in danger of being sidelined for eight games should he unsuccessfully fight the charge at the NRL judiciary.

Parramatta and New South Wales centre Jarryd Hayne is also likely to miss Origin II in Brisbane on June 11 after being charged with a grade two dangerous throw, which carries a minimum two week ban.

Hayne was charged over his lift on Broncos lock Tonie Carroll, the incident occurring after the play had been called dead with the Eels centre the fourth man into the tackle.

North Queensland lock Luke O'Donnell is facing three separate charges, including one for abusing a touch judge, following an eventful night at Dairy Farmers Stadium on Saturday night.

O'Donnell was also hit with two separate grade two striking charges after his elbow came into the contact with the jaw of Penrith hooker Luke Priddis and halfback Luke Lewis either side of halftime.

The second hit saw O'Donnell given his marching orders, the irate former Test backrower giving the touch judge a piece of his mind as he left the field.

He was charged with a grade one contrary conduct charge for approaching a match official in an aggressive manner as a result.

All up O'Donnell faces six weeks out with early guilty pleas for all three charges, but the ban could rise to as much as eighth matches should he lose out at the NRL judiciary.

The other player sent off on the weekend, Manly's Adam Cuthbertson, can escape with a one game ban for his careless high tackle on Canberra's Troy Thompson.

Eels backrower Brendan Oake can also get away with a one game ban for his elbow to the face of Broncos winger Denan Kemp.

Re: Cuthbo & Judiciary

I saw two other tackles this weekend that were just as bad and they didn't even rate more than a penalty. One week is a good result though I would love him to contest and be on the paddock against the Rorters!!!

Re: Cuthbo & Judiciary

Dreadful.  Cuthbo shouldn't have any case to answer.  His arm was just lazy and wouldn't have killed a fly.  Just a slap.  Does the judiciary take into account he already was out for over half a game?  Luke O'Donnell is hard done by as well.

Re: Cuthbo & Judiciary

The tackled player lent his support to Cuthbo and claimed he should get off. Weak NRL has to support a stupid ref who made a dumb decision.

Re: Cuthbo & Judiciary

it was a 1 - 2 week hit, combined with the send off 0 - 1 weeks

im not too fussed at that, actaully think they got it pretty much right

Re: Cuthbo & Judiciary

i was actually suprised that they seemed to get the lot right.

Assuming they dont cave due to origin pressures if it is fought.
