Can anyone help me to know how the MWSE Leagues Club fell so far behind Dee Why RSL in regards to amenities, and patrons?

It seems that having the RSL so huge and so busy that the Leagues Club is just missing out on revenue. I don't know who's decisions it was years ago within the Club that didn't have the foresight to make it a grander place.

It would be nice if the Leagues Club was a place that was as entertaining as what they have turned Dee Why RSL into it.

Because all the profits from the leagues club went to the football club to keep the team on the paddock and all the profits at the R S L go back into the RSL club . End result was the leagues club had no funds to keep it self modern and the R S L are always cashed up and renovating .

DY RSL is perfect for a good day out, bowling alley there too. I think they sponsor us and it would be a good alternative for the club should the leagues club be ever closed down.

There was a plan for a big rebuild announced in 1980. That was a total reconstruction, not renovations, costing $2-4 million (somewhere in that range). Big money for a club redevelopment in those days. Not sure what happened. Either it was not approved, or the club was more intent on focusing on buying big name players. Arko could tell you.

Might be fantasy but would be good if Dee Why RSL was also officially associated with the club and contributed more cash to the football club, leaving Manly Leagues not having to contribute as much and having more cash to revitalise itself.

In my honest opinion as much as i like the manly leagues club it just seems like DY rsl is just more attractive simple-for some reason or another-just my thoughts.

Better management fôr a start better location (near people not car yards)

They should sell that building and move to one of the buildings opposite Warringah Mall, or i vaguely remember a building or cluster of, one of the businesses is / was The Black Stump. Parking built in . . .

Already sold to Penns who then onsold at a hefty profit to Chinese Developer who wants an 8 -14 story compex built

I just don't think there is the interest on the northern beaches for multiple large clubs. We also aren't the types to support a lot of big pokie dens. Maybe we're too smart for it.

My late uncle was a long time member of the Dee Why RSL. I've been there a few times with him (though admittedly not since 1996). IIRC it was a very nice place to have a meal.

You would not recognize it then.

Club of the Year a few times. Very up market and caters to the young, the Xgen and us oldies too.

Safe, clean and lots of entertainment and food venues.

Poor Harbord Diggers is a step up from Manly Leagues only, as the Council keeps knocking back the new design of Club plus apartments.

That's why the LC land will never end up with a high rise on it.

Manly LC now want to merge with North Manly Bowls Club. But Council does not want 200 pokies in the middle of suburbia
