Have they just gone up in sydney? Out here they spiked 9c in the last day. Just in time for the start of the school holidays and long weekend.

Cotton and rice - don't you love them. Huge users of water we don't have and producers cop subsidies coming from every direction. Soon we will be paying them an amount per acre just for being out there, times how many relatives they have and how marginal the seat is.

Maybe using cotton wasn't a good example - I don't have a lot of time for one of the more prominent cotton families up bourke way - though they no doubt will walk away with a big water payment courtesy of their mates in the National Party.

I can assure you it will be a damned sight bigger than $150k though.

Just for the record, retail fuel prices over the past few weeks have been very close to below cost.

Its the government you need to be complaining about. Do you know how much of that $1.40 is made up from taxes and excise.
