Titans have Axed Trevour Gillmeister as assistants coach for 2015. Not part of Neil Henry's vision for the future. Titans attack was their problem this year, their defense wasn't too bad. He is unemployed for next year - except for origin- should Manly be interested in a defense coach?

With the way we are defending at the moment, yes. Do we have a defensive coach at the moment?

Thought it was Georgallis. Although, i have no idea what he does. You are right. I never hear his name mentioned.

I've never the met The Axe but have seen him on TV for decades. I think he has been in his GC role for about 8 years so he must have been doing something right. He has always struck me as one who has had his head in too many scrums.

The Axe was one of the toughest that played the game. He forged a reputation for being a tough, fearless and hard-hitting tackler and was a good boxer as well

I knew that. As a cockie I never liked him and his moniker came from chopping the opposition in half. But he would be a brick short of a barrow load I think.

When he played at the roosters he was taking money out of an ATM when a couple of blokes tried to rob him.

The two blokes were unconscious before they hit the ground

We need more Manly around Manly - just to get that club feel back. Could Beaver do it?

He is not a very tall guy but boy you wouldn't mess with him. He rushed out of hospital once for a state of origin game and then rushed back in again after the game was finished

Would rather they get someone from Manlys past playing stock,or someone with a little more tactical nous.........Get the Beaver in there doing something..as well...!

Don't tell me this forum is heading back to the days of suggesting we should offer a job to anyone who gets sacked from or leaves another club

I do not get it

A quick review of the stats show that there has been one year where his team has had a better defensive record than Manly
http://stats.rleague.com/rl/teams/titans/titans_ss.html

Not sure what he would bring or even why his name is mentioned at all

The sort of tackling that Gilmesiter specialised in ( drive with shoulders and legs, big hits etc ) is no longer used much in the NRL. Its all hold grapple and twist.

That old school style of defence is back with the dinosaurs....and so is Gilmeister himself probably.
