I know I'll probably in the minority here, but hockey is one of those sports that once you've been surrounded by it for a few weeks, it's hard not to get into it. I was fortunate enough to be in Calgary in 2004 when the Flames got into the playoffs for the first time in 7 years and ended up being the first Canadian team playing for the Stanley Cup in a decade.
Anyway, the season is on us again and I'm already teeing up which NHL games to watch on TV as well as which games to go and see of both our local university team and our local QMJHL team (the QMJHL being a major source of NHL new blood). It's going to be a kicking season especially as I have a funny feeling it's going to be a cold, long winter (let's see in 6 months if I'm right 🙂 ). With each team playing on average about once every 3 days, I should be set for hockey somewhere, somehow, every night.
So what's the deal with this thread? Just getting excited is all, but I also wanted to post two videos from two different eras, showing off some of the greatest parts of hockey 🙂
Here's an old school brawl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZmRWz_Dyk0
And this is a group of maybe 5 big fights, all in the same game from more recently: http://youtube.com/watch?v=N1-25s4uwFQ
There's something about watching men in skates trying to punch while trying to stay upright that just makes me laugh!
