Is Tinkler a sham? (non-Manly thread)

For some time I've wondered if this fat fella really has the wealth claimed, or is he another sham - like that Firepower crook. The way this young guy, an electrician by trade I understand, obtained such massive wealth seems unrealistic to me.
I have no proof, just years of experience reading about numerous high-flyers whose wealth is a mirage.
Now it seems he can't raise the funds to meet his commitment to the Knights.
Should Benny be worried about his new employer?

I hope not i`d like to see Benny go down,why the hell did he (tinkler)even say that he should keep his mouth quiet till bennett is actually there then confess lol.. That would be the ultimate if that happens..
here`s a suggestion ..newcastle should merge with a team from central coast .. that would make me happy hahahaha.. the newcastles bears or the central coast knights ...

From what I know Wayne Bennett has been good mates with Tinkler, and many of the mining magnates around Australia for many years.

Some say Bennett is as wealthy as any of them.

Wayne has nothing at all to worry about.

I'm amazed that an electrician can be that 'switched on' to have some much wealth so young . . . particularly when you consider what his food bill must be!

Tinkler made around $500 million by selling his mines to MacArthur coal at their peak, these were bought in Mac coal shares which rocketed in value.
I think he is in the process of listing one of his other companies on the ASX and they say that this will net over another $500 mill, he has the bucks.
He did get lucky, but he is also very shrewd.
I don't know how much truth is in this, but there are rumours that he is/was a Manly fan.

I doubt the 'Manly fan' thing (although I suspect all league fans are closet Manly fans). He's a very fat Newcastle lad. His wealth is real, although not so liquid, so the banks might have a problem with the guarantee. Bit of a beat up imo.

what i have heard is that drug castle have been found out to have under stated their debt by more than a few million and now he has found this out he is a bit shy on what he has entered into Mind you this is only a rumour but would we all not baulk at this revelation if true could not happen to a better team of cheats and should be kicked out for supplying false information to a prospective buyer and the league but then galloping goose may say it was an honest mistake and take no action as usual:argue:

3 possible scenarios for the delay:

Tinkler is worried that Bob Brown is going to close down his mines and he will then be worth nothing.

Bob Brown is pushing through same sex marriages because he wants to marry Tinkler

Geiorge Rose has gone missing and they think that Tinkler may have swallowed him

You don't have to be smart to make money in business. Benny Elias case in point. Its better to be lucky than good.

Latest is the Knights board may have misled his group (I'm not suggesting knowingly) as to the amounts of the Knights debt and they are just going through that stuff. Just part of the business process if you ask me.

Tinkler, 36, has a fortune of $1Billion, but this consists mainly of his stake in coal miner Aston Resources, which is two years away from production. He appears to have few other cash-generating assets, while his Aston stake and horse racing empire, Patinack Farms, are both heavily leveraged...

I note in another story today he is involved in a legal battle over one of his horses.

So, again, I question how anyone can "have a $1Billion fortune" when the mine is not producing anything, and his other investments are heavily leveraged. Seems to me that he could be heading down the same route as so many entrepreneurs. Once recent one is Eddie Groves who owned ABC Learning Centres. One day he's a billionaire, the next he's a bankrupt.

This is a rumour so take it for what it's worth. Tinkler wants to build a coal loader in Newcastle for his future coal mine out west, but the proposed loader site is quite near a residential neighbourhood. To get the punters onside with his plans he needs to come across as a benevolent good guy. One way to do that is to 'rescue' the struggling footie teams in Newcastle. Who would oppose the savior of the local lads? Maybe something in it, maybe not.

I have also heard a rumour that Tinkler wants to build a casino next to the knights ground and that he is buying the knights to get the locals on-side for when he approaches the government.

So a casino and a coaloader , this guy doesnt want the Knights , he wants the whole city..
