Super League duo face unclear futures as compensation rules leave them 'trapped'

A very interesting story. Can it work in Australia?
My initial thought is it is a great way for compensation to a Club who develop juniors.

The NRL has sat on its hands in fear of upsetting the financial brokers. The whole system needs a reboot. The Salary cap at present is not providing a level playing field at all and the rhetoric that the salary cap serves to save poorer clubs from folding is simply an excuse to justify what we are stuck with.

The situation is even worse for cricket clubs. Not only do they receive no financial compensation for developing a local junior who reaches State, Australian or BBL level they are ordered by these upper echelon organisations that the players must rest and not return to play for their grade clubs. Even though many of these representative players want to repay their clubs by returning to play grade cricket they aren't allowed.
These overarching organisations forget where all their players have come from. It also weakens grade standards. A young player wants to compete with and against State and Australian players. It's the best way for juniors to improve, and is a way for the star player to remember his financial rewards are partially due to the volunteers from his early cricketing days.
