Kind of Embarrassing

(cough, cough !! Hehehehe)...I had two beers last night, and fell asleep at the 20 minute mark....I woke up this morning, to my WIFE telling me I was soft (LoL). That being said, can anyone tell me (from Manly fans perspective), how Matty Ballin went?

All the guys at work are saying he was invisible, and I hoped he was going to be awesome (so Smith didn't get his spot back).

Please tell me differently.

Ballin played well, solid football no mistakes and really kept them moving forward.

He didn't do anything spectacular, he was invisible only because he was doing his job exactly as required, even Sterlo gave him big wraps after he went off

What Dan said.  Ballin didn;t make a mistake but also didn;t stand out.  No need with Thurston and Lockyer playing as they were.  If he tried to be the playmaker he would have just got in the way.

Ballin did what Qld needed/expected. Nothing remarkable but he did not have to be, he did his job extremely well and had it been anyone other than Cooper Cronk ont he bench I suspect Ballin would have played the full 80 minutes.

With the win, I REALLY hope he retains his spot guys. It would be unfair imo to see him dropped.

He'll be dropped as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow. If Smith is fit there is no way they'll keep Ballin, they'd be mad if they did. That said he was solid enough last night and did all expected of him. Let's hope he has got a taste now and realises what level he needs to be at to become a serious threat to Smith. He needs some more strings to his bow, in terms of kicking game and creativity. His time in Origin can only be a benefit to us at club level if he takes some stuff on board and looks to self improvement.

Fair points C&C, but doesn't that completely go against QLD's loyalty code they dribble on about so much? If someone does the job, faith is shown in them??

I'll be calling Meninga out on it as much as possible in the event that cheating prick is selected in the QLD squad.

The more experience Ballin gets with the likes of Thurston / Lockyer - the better.

Plus we get the upside of his playing is rubbing salt into the Wayne Bennett's, Ballin's not good enough for 1st grade crud.

  Queensland think beyond one game, another thing NSW needs to learn.  Smith has done the job for years.

I see the NSW fellows are "pleading" with selectors to stick with them and let them redeem themselves.  Clearly they know the knife is being sharpened.  Maybe they should have been so desperate for redemption at 8pm last night, rather than 9.45.
