So with all the probs we are still favs

Dogs also short. Lost some players and not picked up a lot. They will do well to make the 8.

The Dogs surprises me. What did it take for Des to lead Manly to its first premiership and they think he will do it first year with the Dog's roster?

Leave your money on the Eagles.

Just watched the season highlights DVD. Check barba's defensive effort against us when we won 38-4. He has no idea and no heart in defence. George, wolf etc swat him like a fly. DES will be upset with him.

Lol Rose almost ate him

Barba was sitting in row 6 by the time Rose got around to putting the ball down.

It was one of my favourite tries of 2011! :D

Some of Barba's attempted tackles this season would not have brought down a 12 yr old. Compare his one on one defence with the Snake's - it is not in the same galaxy.

How can the Dogs rightly be at the same odds as the Broncos (11/1)? Madness. I reckon Dogs should be 33/1 and Broncos 5/1 favourites. Sure they have lost Lockyer, but they gain Petro and have a lot of young talent.
I dislike Broncos intently, yet I fear them in 2012.

Unless Greenberg has found the fountain of youth and plans to put Des, Crusher and Dymock in the run on side the Bulldogs will scrape into the 8 at best.

Tigers at $9 are too short. Half back will be a weakness for them next year & Marshall not that I would wish it on him but he's probably due for another shoulder injury.

The Tigers went pretty close this year. The Dragons slipping out to 12.00 is funny. And the Warriors at 10.00. The bookies put a fair bit of emphasis on departing coaches. Except for the mighty Eagles!! Newcastle is a bit silly i think. The odds are always scattered at this time of the year and shorten up quickly as the new year starts. I was hoping we'd drift out to about 12.00 and wack a $100 on us for the title.

That is about my fair value call as well. With Tooves now in charge I would rate us around $10.

I can see why the Knights have come in - Buderus back and Wayne looked very comfortable calling plays at their training session. Still too short for mine - around $14 for value.

Buderus will be 34 by the time the season starts, Tahu is past it, Boyds not a bad signing and Snowdens a decent prop. Don't know if they've signed anybody else. Must be a lot of people think Bennett will get instant results to have them so short. I think when he went to St George he had a better roster, don't see them as favourites, time will tell though.

2012 is wide open

Just noticed that there are a bunch of teams all at $9 equal faves for next year (including Manly) and the biggest outsiders are some teams at $26. I don't always the follow the betting very closely but I can't recall such a compressed spread for an upcoming season. Ideal scenario for some outsiders to come from nowhere to make the finals?
