Could you imagine how quickly the rules on negotiating contract's would change if it was Manly landing marquee players from other clubs. Dave Smith and "The Green Turd" would be spinning like the Tazzie Devil to get a ban on poaching in place.

Some notable Manly Rule Changes (Rules Changed after we benefited from them)

Obstruction Rule: Amended after Manly seemed to benefit from it Vs the Tigers Rd 2 of 2012 (I think). Bulldogs went on to master it and use it exclusively, as other clubs weren't allowed to do it other than them and they used it to make a GF.

BOD (Benefit of the Doubt): Amended after the Cowboys lost to Manly in the famous "Hand of Foz" Semi Final.

Semi Final out of Suburban Stadium's Rule: Rule changed after Manly enjoyed home ground semi final success leading up to 2008 Grand Final. Ironically the Moron's at the NRL decided on another "Knee Jerk" reaction move semi's to regional grounds like SFS and Olympic park in Melbourne, but Manly Vs Saints in the first round of the Semi's of 2008 actually drew the biggest semi final crowd out of the 4 games beating the Roosters Vs Broncos crowd at SFS and Melbourne Vs Warriors at the new Olympic Park, and notably the Sharks Vs Raiders were within a whisker of being the second biggest crowd at their suburban stadium Toyota Park.

Head bin. In the days before interchange teams could temporarily replace a player who copped a head knock. Bozo exploited this regularly, notably bringing Paul shaw on for Ron Gibbs through the finals series in 87. Rambo deserved an academy award for his acting when coming off for a breather in the grand final.

Place kicks for touch. Ridge did this as a time waster to give the boys a breather to set them selves for a big set of six after a penalty.

Stacked benches. In the days of unlimited interchange in the 90s our 6 to 8 man bench was better than half the other 1st grade sides out there.

Salary cap. We'd be screwed now without it, but we had 2 first grade quality teams for a while there. The reserve grade team beat the poms easily in 1988.
