Match Stats

First and last time time i've been happy to see a maroon and white dressed team lose on Brookie oval.

What, you couldn't find your 2025 white alternate Brisbane?

So many positives but probably understated how well the defence aimed up , was organized and worked for each other .
D C E showing what he is really capable of again but also can not understate Brooks 's much improved performance level .
Plenty of things pleasingly going Manly "s way which can make a difference but a good side in form and playing with purpose can make their own luck and try things and be good enough to capitalize
Faulalo really good considering how much pressure applied to him , Talau not that far behind
Lehi , terrific in so many ways , Ola and Burbo right up there .
Shame that Alioia is still having injury issues , did well when he was out there and hopefully can recover for next week .
Browny all heart and effort and back to his best input again
Jazz "s 80 min and effective effort just really good also .
Bronco "s not in a good place right now but an again determined and focussed Manly just outplayed them all over the park and were deservingly rewarded

True...you did.

Remind me, was that before you after you said get your money on the Donkeys , a big big win coming for them, and Donkeys 30+ now I’m expecting about 42-6 their way?

I know we play the Knights next, and very easily could put 50 on them.
I’ve done the coin toss for next week.

Manly 13+

Get your money on now

Very well played. If this team can keep this energy and spirit going, we’ll do really well this year. There is no standout team. We are as good as any if we play like this. Love Lehi’s work but I may echo some others sentiments, watch when Turbo comes back in. I sense this is his chance to really have a crack this year if he’s got himself right. None of that bs Origin distraction. Let’s wait and see…Great win last night. More of that.

Injuries:

Sea Eagles forward Josh Aloiai has suffered another shoulder injury in his return match after five games on the sidelines.

Aloiai was forced from the field midway through the first half against the Broncos with a shoulder injury

"He's had a few bumps on his shoulder this year so we need to get that looked at," said Manly coach Anthony Seibold.

"Every time he has tried to get started he has taken a bump to the shoulder again.

"I imagine he'll get an MRI and a scan and we'll be guided by the medical staff."

Josh Aloiai (shoulder, TBC)

Sea Eagles Judiciary News:
  • No Manly players were placed on report during the game.
  • No Manly players were charged post-match by the Match Review Committee.

I loved Lehi's post match interview, kevvy asked about his efforts and how he does it and Lehi said well I'm scared of my dad so that helps and they all said so are we and all laughed and then they asked about how he managed to tackle Payne on that break he made and he said well if I didn't get him, my dad would of gave me a beating on the way home.

The after match press conference are a waste of time. For starters, you can't hear the questions. How long have we complained about the poor accoustics at Brookie? Surely the club could find a more appropriate place within the COE instead of in a dungeon under the Jane Try Stand. For such a huge sport it is amateur hour when it comes to press conferences.
By primarily, the fact that the coaches and captains say nothing enlightening (except occasionally for Sticky). So, we had McGuire and Reynolds claiming the Broncos were "not far away" from their best, and all they had to do was "work harder" at training and "be more disciplined" during a match.
We could all see the truth: The Broncos should have beaten an injury depleted Manly by 30 points, just like they should have done the previous 4-5 matches. Their roster is stcked, yet they aren't prepared to dig in. They are not trying, and something is wrong.
Personally, I delight in watching Brisbane torpedo its season. I'm not trying to diminish the outstanding performence of our team, but McGuire should have been called to account in the press conference yet gets away with being disingenous. Why bother with them, especially when the NRL fines coaches for not toeing the corporate line?

Speaking of pressers, Dessy will definitely be getting a fine haha, it was just a straight call out and then he doubled down on the ref in the bunker too.

I know he’s probably still getting back to match fitness but I thought Froggy was struggling a bit last night.

There’s no doubt Simpkin is a far crisper passer of the ball.

But I think the Frog wins on the defence front.

Just think we looked better when Simpkin was on the field.

Simpkins is more Skillful and also Adequately defensively
With the Frog we become one dimensionally Subdued

The team has always looked better with Simpkin on the field, although I thought Croker defended quite well last night. But he didn’t return to the field for a second stint, which goes against Seibold’s usual routine with the 9’s.

Maybe should go on about 10 mins before half time. And play 10 minutes after , leaving the other 60 to Simpkin

Im assuming that he didnt get a second stint because of aloia’s injury.

Love how we stayed in the grind in the first 25min of the 2nd half. And had that 10pt lead cushion as an added bonus under our sleeve. Then we cashed in, running away with it in the final 15min to win in a cantor.

Great win last night
As we know they have to back those performances up week after week , there not going to win every game but the team needs to be consistent in what they do and win more than they loose
Onto next week to prove it

Lehi is the future just not yet. Turbo will be back to full throttle soon and just watch when he is. Provided we can keep our mids on the park we're not done for yet. It's still a long way to go yet and the next month will put us in a good place for the back end of the season.
Who are you, and what have you done with @mickqld?

Anyone notice how the Fox commentators, especially big Mal were being the Broncos apologists, started at half time then came the big overview on the Broncs at fulltime, downplaying Manly's win. Although, Kevvie would have secretly been lovin' this tho.
And Kev getting a bit emotional. It’s just sad bla bla bla, cos my son plays for them bla bla bla. Whatever Kevvie it’s professional sports mate.
