The after match press conference are a waste of time. For starters, you can't hear the questions. How long have we complained about the poor accoustics at Brookie? Surely the club could find a more appropriate place within the COE instead of in a dungeon under the Jane Try Stand. For such a huge sport it is amateur hour when it comes to press conferences.
By primarily, the fact that the coaches and captains say nothing enlightening (except occasionally for Sticky). So, we had McGuire and Reynolds claiming the Broncos were "not far away" from their best, and all they had to do was "work harder" at training and "be more disciplined" during a match.
We could all see the truth: The Broncos should have beaten an injury depleted Manly by 30 points, just like they should have done the previous 4-5 matches. Their roster is stcked, yet they aren't prepared to dig in. They are not trying, and something is wrong.
Personally, I delight in watching Brisbane torpedo its season. I'm not trying to diminish the outstanding performence of our team, but McGuire should have been called to account in the press conference yet gets away with being disingenous. Why bother with them, especially when the NRL fines coaches for not toeing the corporate line?
