MANLY rough diamond Steve Matai has played his final match of the season and will be sidelined for at least seven weeks for his late shot on Canterbury hooker Michael Ennis.
The NRL's match review panel has today charged Matai with a grade three reckless high tackle, but with carry-over points from previous offences, the centre will receive a minimum 720 points with an early plea.

Should Matai choose to fight the charge, he risks being rubbed out for a staggering nine weeks.

While Matai came under fire for Sunday's ugly incident - Ennis was heavily concussed and forced from the field - fellow Sea Eagles skipper Jason King and Chris Bailey escaped with grade-one high tackles and will be free to play the Dragons on Sunday.

The Sea Eagles have been so crippled by injury they have been forced to cancel a field session tomorrow because of a lack of personnel
