The Board of the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club is proud to announce that Manly Sea Eagles legend, Football Club Life Member and two-time Dally M Player of the Year Cliff Lyons was unanimously elected as the new Chairman of our historic club, following the resignation of Darrell Williams.

The Board would like to thank Darrell for his loyal and passionate service to our Club over many years both as a player and administrator.

We are further pleased to announce three new members have joined the Board to fill the existing vacancies:

Mary Finkelsen

Mary Finkelsen has extensive marketing and advertising experience in Australia’s largest advertising agency, managing major international accounts. Mary played an integral role in the creation and management of the Eagles Angels for 11 years. She also managed key sponsors and events for the Manly Sea Eagles, including acquiring the major sponsorship of Kaspersky Lab. Mary is a lifelong Manly supporter.

Nicholas Curulli

Nicholas (Nick) Curulli is a Manly businessman, lifetime supporter of the Sea Eagles and long-time member of the MWRLFC. He grew up in Brookvale with his family home overlooking Brookvale Oval and went to school at St Augustine’s College. Nick was involved in local touch football for over twenty years as a player and coach.

Scotty Wilcox (Company Secretary)

Scotty has a background in video post-production and content creation. His business in Warriewood is a specialist TV advertising, online content and social media company. He is the third of four generations of Sea Eagles supporters. He has worked directly with the Sea Eagles, in 2012 creating material for the Season Launch and the game day big screen.

We welcome Mary, Nick and Scotty to the Board. They join existing members Chairman Cliff Lyons, Julie Sibraa, Bob Reilly and Chris Jones.

GO MANLY!

I've been a great advocate of the Footy Club for a very long time , and I still urge you all to be members BUT in the current ownership model they very sadly have limited influence , about the only thing they have that holds any power is to veto more than two games a year away from Brookvale.

They still vote on the MWSE board but of course are beaten every time if they try and get anything through that's not to the liking of the current owners.

Darrell Williams, whom I had a fair bit to do with when the Sea Eagles provided him to be my feature guest in the 2012 World Club Challenge Tour, is a nice guy but couldn't organise a chook raffle, let alone run the District Footy Club, so unsurprising that he's stood down. No doubt Darrell's heart was in the right place but his previous falling out with Penn Senior and Zorba would have made his position untenable as far as MWSE are concerned.

I imagine Cliffys appointment is probably driven by him being " acceptable " to the Penn group.

Mind you I don't see Cliffy being much different in an organisational sense ,but I imagine he'll have Julie Sibraa doing most of the work and he will just be a front man.

Mary Finkelson is a goer , of course a former staff member who was sacked by Joe Kelly and famously took them to court ( and won), although I imagine she's very much agenda driven. Despite that, as I said, she's a real goer and was great in her former role, so good on her for stepping up.

I don't know the other two, but I imagine they'd fit somewhere as like minded people with the other board members.

I got this email as well but thanks for sharing C & C

Id be very happy for Mary to be "very much agenda driven" because if the time comes for the Penns to sell their way out of this mess they're creating then I'd hope she could interest a buyer who'd invite the football club back in - much like the Eagles Angels getting Max Delmege involved.
I live in hope.

As long as the main protagonists from both sides are still there I can not see how there will ever be a decent working relationship, let alone one that puts the interests of the club ahead of any petty agendas

Probably only one of those remains on the Football Club side of things.

If Reilly & ZtH could retire gracefully that could possibly happen but whilst either are still there , no chance !!!

If things are to heal Reilly has to go and go now.

He should do the right thing and walk away along with Julie Siibraa (despite her good work) - too many skeletons in the closet due to past disagreements.

We don't always agree Wheelie, but you are 100% right, Julie is on a Vendetta over a perceived slight towards her husband Kerry, and to mend the wounds of the past those two probably need to go, maybe you should get another member , stand against them next time and try and do it from within?

Mark I think we agree more times than not! We both bleed maroon and white after all.

Actually if it wasn't a Jerry mander in place I might consider plus I have seen how how they will fight to retain their little empire.

If you love something sometimes you have to let go for things to change, this is a good example.
