<p>HE MAY be interested in a final year at Manly but salary cap pressures will prevent club legend Steve Menzies from returning to Brookvale next season.<strong> </strong><img src="http://resources2.news.com.au/images/2010/08/26/1225910/639346-steve-menzies.jpg" border="0" alt="Steve Menzies" width="316" height="421" /></p>

I was flipping channels last night and Vossie on TFS said that news of Menzies signing with Manly was coming up later in the show. Did anyone see what that was finally about?

How much ARE we paying guys like DCE, Rose, Galuvao, Whare, Hoppa & co?

Surely $50k for Beaver would be great. Especially considerring how prone to injury Rodney is (and everyone knows how much I love Rodney).

who really can afford Beaver? expensive stuff

.
get real guys anyone who pays for beaver has massive problems
[/quote]

You find me a married man or a man in a relationship who isn't paying for beaver and I will show you a miracle!

Only a single man wouldn't understand that comment the way you did, if I were single I would be financially better off than I am in a relationship.

Beaver costs! So stump up Lowie, we all have to pay. I don't care about fairytale finishes - I just want more Beaver.

I could certainly watch Beaver for another year

Not sure on how the rules work but wouldn't it be great if all interested supporters could club together and 3rd party sponsor a player like Menzies.

Just bring him back for when we play the raiders so the commentators can say "Tongue was all over Beaver in that tackle"

I'm not sure how "bobble-head's" contract for st choke works this year, but he is on massive unders-would menzies play for unders, with 3rd party build ups?

Offer the total of beer and pie sales from home games plus an away match payment. I doubt he's coming back for the money, let Beaver say what he'd be happy to play for and work from there.

Oh to have our very own thoroubreds...

We do, they are called the "One Eyed Eagles." I've been told it costs $10,000 a year to be a member and that it is very similar to the Donkeys Thoroughbreds.

Just my second post, but as a Manly supporter for over 30 years, it astounds me that Manly would not do all they could to coax Steve Menzies back for a final season. In my humble opinion, one of the primary reasons for our inconsistency since the 2008 Grand Final (apart from injuries) has been the absence of Menzies' class and passion. His ability to take the right options in attack, his defensive prowess, and obviously his uncanny knack for scoring tries are qualities which we have not been able to secure with any other player. I realise he may be 2 years older, and perhaps a little slower, but I have no doubt he would still be a standout in our team. I'm sure he truly would love nothing better than to play his last game of football ever, wearing a Manly jumper. And I don't think money would be his prime focus for wanting that to happen. The word legend is thrown around all too frequently today. But in Beaver's case, it is warranted. How could we possibly not find a place for one of the true Manly legends? It isn't as if we are setting the world on fire playing without him.
