News: Manly can't shake Silvertail tag

The fact that the article claims many fans wanted Norths back shows what sort of people voted in that survey!!! The Norths love and Manly hate goes together. Most likely 55 year olds living in the past.
They'd have to be a lot older than 55 if they can think fondly back to the Bears glory days.

After what happened a couple of months ago with that online Foxsports Choosenight Footy poll I'll take the Tele results with a pinch of salt. If you recall, the final Manly v Norths match from 1999 was up against the Balmain v Wests match. The "voting" got up to around 5 or 6 thousand each and showed how easy it is to manipulate the results of these online polls if you have the time and inclination.
The other important thing to note with the Tele poll was that the question posed was something like "Do you want to see a team playing on the Central Coast". There was no mention of the bad news bears and anyone voting could have wanted a relocation or, more likely, a brand new CC team not aligned with the bears.
Lo and behold, the next day it is trumpeted as an endorsement for the bears to get back in the comp.
I just wonder what Fairleigh & Florimo do for the rest of the day after they have their team meeting each morning. Probably sit there calling the various papers begging for a story and then spend the rest of the day voting on stupid online polls..........

I think it's a fact that until all the journos from the 70s like Roy Masters and co. actually die the papers will keep convincing the sheep to hate Manly and they'll do so like good little sheepies. Good luck to the morons.
