It is a shame that Foran will be the one to miss out of Lyon comes back.  he has been one of our best in recent weeks.

Manly strike weapon Jamie Lyon will be given until later this week to prove his fitness for Friday night's NRL qualifying final against Melbourne.

Lyon is recovering from a shoulder injury and coach Des Hasler says he will be given every chance to take on the Storm at Etihad Stadium.

"He's not too bad, progressing," Hasler told reporters on Tuesday.

"He's just got to get through some fitness work and we'll assess it later in the week, but we'll give him every chance."

Lyon would be likely to slot in for Kieran Foran at five-eighth, but Hasler backed his young No.6 to handle finals football in the grand final rematch.

"I can't see why not, he was outstanding last week," Hasler said.

"He brings a lot of energy to the side."
