Brisbane Bronsos winger Antonio Winterstein sent for swine flu test
June 11, 2009

Brisbane Broncos winger Antonio Winterstein has been told to go to hospital to be tested for swine flu less than an hour after NRL officials announced Friday night's NRL clash with the Bulldogs would proceed.

Brisbane fullback Karmichael Hunt became the second rugby league player to be confirmed as having swine flu on Friday.

Winterstein told Queensland Health officials monitoring the health of Brisbane players quarantined since Tuesday he was displaying symptoms of swine flu.

After Hunt tested positive, Winterstein was advised to go to Logan hospital to be tested.

Brisbane are furious the NRL has decided to go ahead with Friday night's game with their players unable to train since Monday.

If Winterstein tests positive it raises the question whether other players involved in Friday night's game may have swine flu.

Suck it up suckers. If they were injured you would be playing.

You dont run the league so take it on the chin, you have to play the cards you are dealt

It's only one game possibly affected for the Broncos.

On Stewie being cleared there's the situation of a single NRL decision being proven in retrospect to be a massive overreaction which cost Manly many wins.

And the Broncos situation, even if the entire first-grade side couldn't play is no worse than the situation Melbourne faced 3 times last year where their side was entirely decimated during origin resulting in three losses which otherwise would have likely been wins.

Broncos were extremely and irresponsibly slack in attending to this situation, as was shown when they incredibly sent out Darren Lockyer to announce face-to-face to a packed room full of media that he was in quarantine with a highly contagious and reportedly deadly disease!

Imagine if this was us, terrible decision imo
hope this NRL decision results in the dogs catching the swine flu
