Reserve Grader
Jarryd Hayne, Brett Morris, Matt Cooper, Beau Scott, Timana Tahu, Trent Barrett (vice-captain), Mitchell Pearce, Michael Weyman, Michael Ennis, Brett White, Trent Waterhouse, Ben Creagh, Paul Gallen. Interchange: Kurt Gidley (captain), Nathan Hindmarsh, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Luke O'Donnell

Top news king can play Friday night.

At least gidley is on the bench so we'll have a chance.

Why would you want Hindmarsh comming off the bench?

Scott in the centres? May as well put Cuthbo out there.

1 bench prop lol.

Unbelievable. No problem with King but the front row will be creamed. White is very ordinary and the bench is not a bench. We are done for.

NSW a little stronger than before...my prediction is now 36 -0 not 50-0

Queensland to blaze away in the backs and roll over NSW big time

If Bellamy didn't want the job he should've just said so.

Surely can't be serious, that has to be one of the worst origin teams ever selected.

qld have gone with a similar prop setup.

but yes i agree the team, while better than last time, is still going to get reamed

Don't mind the majority of that side, but personally, 4 SPECIALIST props should be picked in every rep side. They have picked 2, backed up with 2nd rowers who will be forced to play tight

I don't understand Hindmarsh on the bench. He is an 80 minute player whose only value is his ability to make 50 tackles and do all the clean up work around the ruck, which he can't do sitting on a bench. He certainly isn't going to offer "impact" off the bench. Unless Bellamy plans on starting him in place of Waterhouse. I'm not a Luke O'Donnell fan so don't really know what he brings to the side.

Cooper and Beau Scott ??? Can anyone see a linebreak emanating from either of those two ?

Beau Scott is picked purely to stop Inglis, on his Saints form of the past couple of season that is fair enough, he has been very, very good defensively. Cooper has actually been in pretty good form this season when I have seen him, I had written him off at this level at the start of the year but the way he has been playing prior to Origin 1 he was an easy pick

O'Donnell is perfectly suited to Origin, but was a bit of a letdown last year. He is aggressive, runs hard and tackles hard. Will never forget his debut in 06 I think it was, he only played the opening 8 minutes because he broke his thumb, but in that time put on 3 massive hits

C&C as I said on another thread I think the logic behind Hindmarsh off the bench is so he can do the clean up work around the ruck when NSW seem to need it most, which is that crucial 20-30 minute period either side of halfway in which QLD tend to dominate.

Not a bad call IMO.

Don't you mean the 40min periods either side of halftime when Qld dominate ;D

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Beau Champion partner Scott in the centres for NSW

Problem is, that it might be all over before he gets onto the field.

Yes he has been on fire at the Cowboys. Not.
He is tough but these days he is just very very slow, and he was never creative. He is not big enough to bend the line. He can do some tackling, and will almost certainly lose his temper and give away some penalties. Probably drop the ball too. He is like an older grumpier sluggish version of Choc

But he is a true origin type, I'm sure he will look very intimidating as he lines up under the goalposts every time Qld score a try. Great.
