Sea Eagles move into top eight

Sat 15th August, 06:16PM

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have moved into the top eight of the NSW Cup ladder with two rounds remaining before the finals.

The Sea Eagles overcame a 12-4 half-time deficit to beat Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 26-12 at Brookvale Oval this afternoon in round 23.

The vital win sees the Sea Eagles move to eighth place on 24 points after results also went in their favour.

Before today’s match, the Sea Eagles sat in ninth place one win behind Illawarra Cutters who lost 24-20 to Mounties. The Cutters are now in ninth place on 22 points.

Newtown and Wests Tigers also lost today to remain on 21 points.

Sea Eagles Coach Luke Williamson was very proud of his men.

“There is plenty of fight in these players. We played the last 30 minutes with no replacements due to injury,’’ Williamson said.

“It was a great win. Our fourth in a row. We like to thank the Sea Eagles fans who came to ‘Fortress Brookie’ and really helped lift us to victory in the second half.

“We hope to see plenty of Sea Eagles fans at Brookie again next Saturday.”

The Sea Eagles play Wentworthville (12th) and Newcastle (6th) at Brookvale Oval over the next two consecutive Saturdays, giving the side a huge home ground advantage.

Illawarra face a tough run home against Bulldogs (5th) and Penrith (third).

Manly 24 (D Williams, J Littlejohn, M Rudolph, U Baker tries; D Kelly 5 goals) d Bulldogs 12 (

J McInally 2, T Phillips tries).

Sea Eagles run home

Rd 24: v Wentworthville (12th), Brookvale Oval, Saturday, August 22, 3pm

Sounds like a few players pulling there finger out & playing for their futures. Probably a little too late though.............................

They're really starting to click in attack and defense.
Canterbury threw offload after offload at every opportunity and the boys really showed up for one another in defense, especially in the 2nd half, and their confidence in attack flowed off the back of that hard working defense.
Canterbury scored their try's off the back of repeat sets and our boys really worked hard defensively to stop them getting repeat sets in the 2nd half.
The boys came out in the 2nd half looking ready and fired up to get the job done, and they didn't disappoint! As soon as Rudolph scored his 35m try from a Vave offload to bring them within 2 points, you could really see and feel the shift up a gear in the boys attitude! You knew they got a sniff for a win, and with each try after that they just got more and more confident and motivated to win! They showed the same motivation whenever the refs call went their way but even if it didn't or they made a silly error, they still used it as motivation to get the ball back! They're running the footy, giving timely offloads and whether they're running the footy or popping out an offload, they're all giving plenty of support play! They're really giving it a real crack and seem to be peaking at the right time!
It was great to watch!

After speaking to some of the boys after the game, they're all excited and proud about how their all playing and how they're all finally 'clicking' as a team! They're motivated and really want to have a good crack at playing finals footy!!

They play at Brookie for the next two Saturdays at 3pm and I think the boys would love to see as much support as we can give them at The Fortress! Yes they beat Wenty last week but no team should underestimate the lower ladder teams, and Newcastle hammered them last time they met so this will not be an easy last round match!

So come on all the Manly faithful, let's get down Brookie and show the boys our support!! I know I will be there for sure!!

These kids have a terrible habit of playing the ball....with their FOOT? Imagine that? Going to have to train that out of them!

Even though he's missed a few NYC games through injury and being in the NRL side....if Tommy doesn't get the NYC Player of the Year award for 2015 there is something wrong. He's brained them in just about every game he's played.
