Given the fact the QLD team picks itself I'll nominate my NSW team.

I have done this already but i've changed my thinking.

01. Kurt Gidley
02. James McManus
03. Luke Lewis
04. Matt Cooper
05. David Williams
06. Terry Campese
07. Peter Wallace
08. Luke Bailey
09. Michael Ennis
10. Michael Weyman
11. Anthony Laffranchi
12. Ben Creagh
13. Paul Gallen

14. Jarrod Mullen
15. Brent Kite
16. Anthony Watmough
17. Keith Galloway

I think we need vast changes.... The way Mullen, Creagh, Galloway, Ennis, Weyman, Lewis are playing, you CANNOT leave them out. They are easily in the top 20 players so far this year.

I know i've left Gift out and that he will probably get a run anyways because he made the oz side but I think Watmough has the potential to bring moreto the team than Gifty.

what is it people see in metro that I just can't see myself

Lewis and Cooper will NOT win us the Series. We need Jennings and Laurence - both have been in scintillating form, and what do you have to lose? I'd go Monaghan ahead of McManus too. I also don't trust Weyman to get through an entire Origin game, would much prefer Kite to start. Also, Campo's defence worries me. Can't go with Anasta (even though he has been in great form this year) - could Mullen play 5/8?

Apparently the back row will be identical to the test one - Gift, Lafranchi and Gallen and Gidley with Campese the other sure bets.  Probably Wallce too...

thats ok, Watmoughs will go a long way towards losing it.

Can you imagine how much inglis type traffic he will have running at him if he plays.

Football teams are built on balance Fro, a smart coach can use others strengths to cover other weaknesses

Call me old fashioned Kiwi, I prefer a team where everyone can actually tackle..........especially in the forwards.

It's a bit different to Tonie Carrol being Lockyers defensive shadow, it's ridiculous to have a rep standard forward incapable of defending on his line.

Watmough can tackle, it has been shown plenty of times, but his technique can let him down, and does too often

Maybe he goes in too hard and would be more effective if he was more technique than bustle

Put it this way, I would much prefer Watmough in our side at present than a Shipway or a Jensen who were perfect tacklers.

Ironic in a way is that our last tackling machine, Williamson, was hammered most weeks for offering nothing in attack

Trouble is we have Ox as Watmough's shadow.  Little wonder the opposition targets the gap between.

17. Watmough/Lewis tossing up between these two

Want Chocs carry's of the ball but his defence is shocking
But also want Lewis's verstility

Good team.

Post-city country/Anzac Test, would you guys change your teams at all?

I'd go with.....

1. Kurt Gidley
2. Jarryd Hayne (Joel Monas unlucky, but I prefer Hayne)
3. Killer (best centre in NSW)
4. Michael Jennings (can't leave him out. Just too exciting. Cooper's legs are dodgy)
5. Wolfman (gets in because of his kick returns, which shade Joel Monas)
6. Terry Campese (has been in dud form for a month, but I still like him and we have no one else)
7. Peter Wallace (wrapped it up last night, I'm still not convinced, but gotta give the boy credit for stepping up)
8. Kite
9. Farah (he f*cking pissed all over Ennis last night, he's triple the player, and this sh*t about him not being tough enough? F*ck off, he's awesome. Farah 4 LIFE!)
10. Bailey (he got dominated a bit in the Test a few times, and looked a bit small, but kept coming back and finished strong, need his experience).
11. Paul Gallen (running the left)
12. Glenn Stewart (running the right)
13. Luke O'Donnell (holding role in the middle of the field to f*ck people up)

14. Craig Wing (best number 14 in the comp. F*ck anyone who tries to tell me that Gidley is a better #14, Wing is the master)
15. Mick Weyman (didn't let himself down last night, I'd love to see what he can do in Origin)
16. Laffranchi/Waterhouse
17. Choc (I can't believe I am saying this, but he is Origin, it's a stage he will shine on)

The most upsetting this is that I can't find a spot for Luke Lewis, who absolutely deserves a gig. The only person I can put him ahead of is Choc on the bench, but I think NSW would be a far stronger team if they had a fired up Choc coming on after 50 minutes.

As far as I am concerned the front row picks itself. I think Wolfman locked down a spot last night, Hayne wasn't great, but he's definitely good enough. Jennings is rock solid in there - I was so against him a month ago, but f*ck he has jumped into outer space since then. Is there a more exciting player in the NRL? I can't think of one. Inglis, Slater? Jennings is more exciting in my opinion. Maybe Bowen comes close. Snake too.

Anyway. I think NSW will be more than competitive this year. If I was coach, I'd say get O'Donnell to stick to Thurston like glue all game. Follow him around the field and knock the wind out of him everytime he touches the ball - he's the key to QLD.

Am pretty close to you there mate

Personally of the 3 wingers you picked, Monaghan would be number 1 for me, will probably Wolfman missing out

I understand your Wallace choice, probably the safest option too, but I just think Mullen could offer a bit more on attack. If Campo doesn't pick up I wouldn't have a prob with Mullen/Wallace in the halves

Lewis could probably take Wing's spot. Won't be as dynamic off the bench as wing, but offers value all over the park, and Farah is an 80min man for me anyway

I also feel that 1 of NSWs biggest downfalls last year was not enough front rowers, so for mine Choc's bench spot would be taken by Poore/Galloway

Yeah, Wallace hasn't convinced me yet. He had an absolute blinder against the Warriors earlier this year and then did nothing for six weeks. But he was very strong last night, so he gets first crack. Outplayed Mullen.

I know Farah plays 80 for the Tigers, but Origin is a different beast. It's played in fast forward. You need to have someone there who can fill in at hooker because the number 9s are spent by fulltime. Cam Smith is the personification of the term 80 minute hooker, but he has a breather in Origin. I just like Wing. He is perfect off the bench for Origin. He doesn't change structure, he just gets in there, sparks the team, gives great service and is quick around the ruck. He'd compliment Farah perfectly.

Monas is a tough one to leave out. But field position is so valuable in Origin - and Wolfman is arguably the best kick-returning winger that NSW has. Mark him up against Boyd and he'll come out on top I believe. Hayne marks up well against Folau. He's big and skillful. More skillful than Monas, but just as tall.

Neither Galloway or Poore stood out for me last night. Laffranchi can play front row, and Kite/Bailey both play big minutes. Remember, last year we had two specialist props - and their names were White and Ben Cross. I've picked three specialist props, and then guys like Laffranchi can move in there as well. I think we'd be fine with that.

Who knows what Craig Bellamy is thinking though. We could see Hoffman, White, Quinn and Finch out there, eh?

LOL yeah you are right on Bellamy, 1 of my 1st thought on Finch going to the Storm was that he would get a blue jumper

I didn't see the game, but from all reports Mullen outplayed Wallace in the Newcastle v Brisbane game ? I won't have a problem with either getting a run. How far behind do you think Pearce is ? I rate his kicking game the best of the 3 and he would be the toughest defensively as well

Fair call on Wing, like you, I just wanted to find a spot for Lewis. I notice there has been some talk of both Farah and Ennis being picked

I am probably a bit old school, but use the theory that for rep games, 4 specialist props is a must. Qld do it every year from memory and it pays off, NSW never do, and it can detract from the games of blokes like Laffranchi and Fitzgibbon who have done that role
