Snake

Snake's Alive!
I don't think it should be lost on our supporters that the bulk of our playing group have already won a premiership, with another large chunk having won two. When you consider that the Sharks have never won a competition, and Souths last premiership was in 1971, you can gauge how difficult they are to win. It kind of puts Saturday night in perspective; these things are damn bloody hard to win, and although we fell short in extra time, that's rugby league, and we'll be back for another go next year. Maybe thinking like this won't work for everyone, but I figured i'd lend my thoughts just in case; it's been a tough couple of days.

Just imagine if you have waited 43 years like Lol@Souffs

I am involved with some Facebook banter from a school mate (we left school together in 1973).....he's a mad Vermin supporter, he was up me for the rent on Saturday night and Sunday, I had a simple response when he told me I should be supporting a "winning team".

I said forget your record in 1910, since we left school 41 years ago how many Grand Finals have you played in, or how many have you won??

How unusual....I got no reply!!

It is a really good point. Premierships are extremely hard to win, and we've been blessed. It does require a special blend of things to go right.

It just was not our year

You know supporting this great club that within the next 10 years we will again win a premiership and big kings of the NRL

Yes, @davohan123, Maybe a feature length documentary of our just passed "Golden Era" will be made. "When we were Kings" a bit like the Muhammad Ali docu, but made by the producers of the "Fibros and the Silvertails" :)

A lot of intrigue and interesting chapters to it. Its actually quite a dramatic tale:
1: Our Ben Kennedy rebuild period
2: Our 2007 GF and the terrible Storm tactics in that match
3: 2008, Beaver Menzies last match 40 Nil and the amazing win at the WCC
4 The tradedy that happened upon returning home, straight after Snake had been crowned 'Face of the Game'
5. 09 and 10 and our struggles both footy and legally.
6 2011 Donnybrookvale redemption and the Storm exposure etc etc

Now i'm thinking Mini Series. Alex Dimitriados to play Snake ?

I think you're being conservative davohan.

I'd say within 5, we'll be doing another lap of honour.

Like the sound of that!!

Since the introduction of the 6 tackle rule in 1972 and the end of the Dragons era 1966 which club has won the most premierships ?
MAAAAANLY MAAAAANLY MAAAAANLY
Even more remarkable considering the resources the boncos have and the assistance given the scum and the ever burgeoning salary sombrero of the rorters.
Then there's the vast junior area of the riff and the dough of their leagues club and the alleged football mastermind of Gus.
And then there's the slime.
Massive junior area, lots of money, entered the comp same year as us, last won one when Bob Hawke was PM and the space shuttle blew up.
Manly to win.
Go Manly...

Fun fact time:

Longest premiership winless streak in last 50 years (includes merger clubs):

# = yet to win a premiership.

1. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks: 48 years (1968 - 2016)
2. South Sydney Rabbitohs: 43 years (1971 - 2014)
3. Wests Tigers: 36 years (1969 - 2005) - merger club
4. Parramatta Eels: 32 years (1986 - present)
5. St. George Illawarra Dragons: 31 years (1979 - 2010) - merger club
6. Sydney Roosters: 27 years (1975 - 2002)
7. Canberra Raiders: 24 years (1994 - present)
8. Penrith Panthers: 23 years (1968 - 1991)
#. Warriors: 23 years (inception - present)
10. North Queensland Cowboys: 20 years (1995 - 2015)
11. Newcastle Knights: 17 years (2001 - present)
12. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs: 14 years (2004 - present)
13. Melbourne: 13 years (1999 - 2012)
14. Brisbane Broncos: 12 years (2006 - present)
15. Manly Sea Eagles: 12 years (1996 - 2008) - includes Northern Eagles merger
#. Gold Coast Titans: 11 years (inception - present)

So the only team with a lower winless streak in the last 50 years hasn't existed long enough to break our record.

And parra in the top 4.
Lol...

Just means that we continue to bask in the glory of football awesomeness. Let the haters continue to flounder in our wake.
