[Resurrected] RELEASED WTF? - viliame fifita and alec tuitavake

Shows how overhyped we can get on youngsters.

Club got this one right.

That said, whilst I was never really convinced on Fifita I was very high on Tuitavake.

Ah well, cant win them all

Don't forget, players like Matt Ballin have also been let go. Gutherson. Just because they aren't here, doesn't automatically mean they are flops.

Huh?

I said club got THIS ONE right.

Not club has gotten every decision right.

Also how does Ballin play into this? He wasn't a hyped youngster we let leave. We signed him as a youngster and he had a glorious career here. When we did part ways he went to the Tigers and played 3 games in 2 seasons.

Gutherson I wanted to keep at the time over signing Walker.

There is obvs your JWHs, Ramien and Hynes off this world but there is also a bunch of Fifita, Tuitavake, Feledy, Charlie Taylors, Will Pearsells and so on and so forth.

But back to my post, seems the club got this one right and I was wrong on Tuitavake.

Just saying The guru Wayne Bennett told Ballin he wouldn't be a first grader. I actually think Tuitavake will be huge over in the UK.

It’s just like letting Jamie Humphreys go, who I think will turn out a very very good player HOWEVER he wanted a starting half back position , NOW, does he around , like he already has for years just waiting, OR…..

A lot of the good players we’ve lost have been like this , Gutherson is one.

Others , JWH a perfect example , went for the big dollars offered by the richest club , pretty hard , if not impossible to match them if they want a player.

With you on Humphreys. He's going to be a good player, and good luck to him.

Yep - exactly the same situation the Cowboys just found themselves in with Reece Robson. There is no doubt they wanted to keep him, and gave him the best offer they could, but they simply couldn't match the dollars the Roosters were willing to throw his way.

In related news: f**k the Roosters.

Very interested to watch Humphreys this year as a lot of you see something I dont.

I'm sure I'll probs get proven wrong but I see Dodd getting first shot and if Humphreys plays 7 will be more that Dodd and other options are failing more than Humphreys being a lot term answer.

But we shall see it play out and happy for peeps to come back and tell me I'm wrong.

Humphreys was a solid backup half but I don't think we will miss him much. Especially if Arthur stays fit.

Im pretty sure all clubs supporter bases lament players their club has let go and gone onto better things. Its just the nature of the game & salary cap you cant keep everyone. The great Cliffy is a prime example played at Norths and Sharks before us. A mate of mine who supports Norths maintains he would have brought them at least one premiership. 🤷‍♂️

Shows again that type of marginal difference with players showing some definite potential to getting to the next level of regular N R L .
Every indication and i had the impression that both Fifita and Tuitavake could have gone on with it but that extra demand of i st grade footy , just not able to get there .
Humphreys should get his opportunity and always has the option of being considered as 9 .
Again , did some good things and blended in well in that Knights game mid season with his style of play but overall fair call by Manly. not to go the extra yard to retain him
Probably will be a bit different at Souths with Cody Walker still largely calling the shots and most likely also will stay as an average level half option but a few things going for him judging by his Manly stint

100% I hate those pricks

the trouble with any Humphries argument is the small sample size. He played one game against a very poor Newcastle side, with a fullback that was on fire and a forward pack that faced very little resistance.

watching him play a heap of NSW Cup games are not an indication of how successful he will or won’t be in FG.

Therefore, no one can really say with any confidence or credibility that he will or won’t leave us with egg on our faces…because no one can possibly know…except God and he hasn’t been posting much…

Agreed LC. We still have DCE for at least another year, and Manly are hedging their bets that young local Joey Walsh will develop from a top junior to a top first grader. To keep Humphries may have had Walsh look elsewhere. The kid may not reach the heights. That's the risk you take. But his junior performances (though I've not seen them) had him as captain of the Australian U18 squad (one we nabbed from Syd City). I'm all for giving our juniors extra support, given they develop mate ships with other local juniors and understand the Manly structure, which helps encouraging them to stay..
