Remote living dilemmas

bottle shops here don't open until 2pm on a Sunday. Game starts 1:30 NT Time. Taped it. But jeez. Had to fast forward the last five minutes the stress was killing me.

Having said that got to watch the game in peace as the wife and kids went to the pool.

That's right southerners we are still swimming here.

Also been eating mud crab for two days. Had my last crab sandwich for lunch. Luckily caught some blue bone this morning at the boat ramp with my young fella.

Tough gig living up here.

Beautifully warm.

Anyway, you're always welcome. 🙂

We get blue boners and crabs most Friday nights down here when we're on the turps, and it gets messy

We have NBN in Nhulunbuy. You could always work from here. Flights to cairns and Darwin daily.

Although some of that Dutch pike fishing in the middle of town looks okay. And I reckon it would be a pretty intense experience if you stopped of for a coffee in one of those (ahem) 'coffee' shops before throwing some lures.

Yeah I need to buy some fishing gear. I only have a small fishing license which doesn't allow me to fish for predatory fish.

Might get a big one and some better gear rather than just the fishing with the kids, you see a few people stalking hem they just rise heir bikes with their rods then jump off when they find a spot and have a few casts.

I took my daughter last week just to catch small fish and ended up almost landing a huge carp on a kids rod. There are European carp about the size of a Labrador so close you can touch them but again you need a special license to target them and you must return them immediately to the water

Was watching live on fox but also recording, at the 77th minute I couldn't stand it and actually turned off the tv and walked out.
Came back 10 minutes later, composed, it's only a game, so what if we led the whole way through? Fast forward to the end only to see that goal.
Luckily it didn't go deep into extra time...!

Wow I don't even need a boat license up here and don't need to register my boat just boat trailer. The rest of aus is different and I know NSW you have to have a fishing license (and all the other sensible boat and registrations stuff - effectively it means up here if you did it yourself you could put a 250 horsepower motor on the back of a twelve foot tinny, any commercial company won't do it for you because they're scared of the liability) but a European carp license is funny. We used to spear them when I was growing up in north west nsw. And to put them back in the water was what attracted a fine.

That's really good to know I will use that in the classroom looking at the way cultures evaluate things in a global context. Have put together a lot of sose and geography lessons on early forms of globalisation and introduced species and their perceived worth. Uslually ends with a cane toad muster or a carp catching comp which the kids love.
