Pity about Robinson.  I think he's the second weakest ref going around. Seems to get a bias going.  Although we won at shark park under him I think he's got a bias against us.  Interesting to see jack A get a run.  He's the most penetrative forward going around in the reggies but it's in the defense department where this game will be won.  Keep them away from our line and they won't score.  All they know is the kick.  Fitler is a one dimensional coach so that's all they can do.

Plucky Orford set to tackle Roosters

23 July 2008
http://manlydaily.com.au/article/2008/07/23/11209_sports.html

MANLY half and captain Matt Orford is backing himself to play this weekend against the Roosters, but he's not going to take any risks.
The rugged half missed last Friday night's win over Parramatta with a groin complaint suffered in the easy victory over the Sharks a fortnight ago.
Orford ran lightly on his own at Narrabeen yesterday but is no guarantee of facing the Roosters at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday.
"At least I'm moving around and not feeling too bad," he said.
"Hopefully by Thursday or Friday we'll have a better indication.
"There's a great feeling among the group at the moment and there's motivation to be a part of that.
"No-one wants to miss footy games.
"It's up to the medical staff.
"If they say there's a chance I could tear it and be out for up to four weeks, I won't be stupid about it."

MANLY interchange player Luke Williamson is out with a hamstring injury. Coach Des Hasler said captain Matt Orford would have a fitness test on his injured groin today. Hasler still has two players to omit from his bench. Sydney Roosters coach Brad Fittler said: "I expect Matt Orford to play.'' Brent Grose is the man to drop off Fittler's bench. Manly have beaten the Roosters on six consecutive occasions, scoring an aggregate of 128 to eight in the last three match-ups. It was 42-0 this year at Brookvale Oval. The Tricolours have won five from seven at home in '08.

MANLY skipper Matt Orford has predicted "a brutal clash" against the desperate Roosters tomorrow after the Sea Eagles general was cleared to play last night.

Orford's availability has boosted Manly's hopes of securing their first minor premiership since 1997.

Manly coach Des Hasler cleared Orford late yesterday to play the Roosters at the Sydney Football Stadium tomorrow.

The 30-year-old ran freely in a fitness test at Narrabeen yesterday morning.

Orford missed Manly's last-start win over Parramatta, pulling out with a groin complaint. Orford said he expects Brad Fittler's Roosters to seek revenge on Manly after the Sea Eagles thrashed the Bondi club 42-0 at Brookvale Oval on June 8.

"Freddy is a fairly passionate sort of coach and I'm sure he'll have these blokes right up come Sunday," Orford said. "He'll be reminding them of that game at Brookie.

"He'll be touching on that and I'm sure it will be a brutal clash."

But the Manly leader refused to speculate on the minor premiership. The Sea Eagles are favoured to collect the $100,000 bonus for finishing first past the post in the regular season, currently two points ahead of Melbourne on 30 competition points.

"Not once this year have we spoken about the minor premiership, not one player," Orford said. "We have worked very hard to get in the position we are at and want to give us the best chance come semi-final time."

Utility forward Luke Williamson drops off the six-man bench with a hamstring injury while half Jeff Robson will remain in the Sea Eagles NRL squad as 18th man.

Hasler said Orford proved his fitness at a session yesterday morning.

Gee we've had a pretty good record against the C*cks, I didn't realise we'd won the last 6 straight. Fark it'd be nice to make it 7 in a row tomorrow.

I grew up in a house where Dad went for Eagles, Mum went for Roosters... The story goes that when mum found out dad went for the eagles she almost called it off. LoLz. So to ease the stress there was always two teams Manly and a distant second roosters...
