The Who

Journey Man
I notice that Steve Folks has left the Tigers to go to Dragons. The report was factual, friendly, with both clubs praising the guy.
Where's all the innuendo about the Tigers Board in disarray for letting Folks go; about the rift between Folks and the other Tigers' coach staff; about Tiger's premiership hopes being sunk by the defection?

Oh, that's right, it's the Tigers, not Manly.

People say Manly fans are paranoid about the media but look at the last sentence in this Telecrap story about the 2012 Manly jersey. No reason to have it added at all.

Players and fans liked a similar jumper Manly wore during the 2008 Heritage round. A new strip comes with a new coaching staff.

What is wrong with it?, they are only telling us what we already know.

Implying that Des took the Manly double hoops

BTW - 7 Teams have new Coaches in 2012.

DT is yet to launch the bewilderering, exodus headlines for them

No doubt the media have more of a frenzy on anything to do with Manly - started a thread about a pathetic article from the Sunday tele a couple of months ago saying Brett Stewart & others were at a casino in Melbourne & an onlooker stated their behaviour as JUST acceptable?? The onlooker was a random mystery person so its great these papers rely heavily on factual reporting meanwhile Farah & Sheens are almost in fisticuffs & its swept under the carpets- all is well in Tigertown??
Truth is, this type of media comes with success so we better get used to it. If Manly were on skid row outside the 8 they would not be so excited everytime a Seaeagles player tries to live a normal life. At least Manly are getting loads of attention & winning premierships at the same time, things could be worse. ;)

When was the last time the grand final winners weren't on the front cover of the Big League annual? Not this year. Pathetic from the official NRL magazine.

Not defending the DT, but mabye the reason for that is because all their coaching transitions were done smoothly, with the exception of Penrith, and also their players obviously didn't have get out clauses like ours did. And if what I read is correct, who had the get out clauses inserted in the first place? I'm really happy Hasler's gone.

2009 and 2007

Teams have won games with just one illegal player on the field for a very short period, and their win has been totally expunged from the records. No-one claims they won the game, despite the scoreboard at fulltime. The Storm had a whole illegal team for the entirety of multiple seasons.

IMO the NRL leadership was weak-kneed not to bite the bullet and declare alternate minor premiers, and alternate premiers, and new wooden-spooners. As Balmain is well aware, you forfeit a grand final, and the records show the opponents as premiers.

I liked your post, but I don't understand the Balmain ref?

1909 (i think) vs souths in a grand final
The nswrl gf was a crowd warmer for the wallabies playing some merkins, anyway both clubs agreed to not turn up, souths did indeed turn up and got named as premiers by way of forfeit

1909, the GF was relegated to a curtain raiser for the last of the Kangaroos vs Wallabies matches that the NSWRL staged to try and gain public interest in league (Union had been established for a number of years before the NSWRL started). Souths and Balmain were both offended by this and Balmain forever claim that they both agreed not to show up. Souths however DID show up, scored a try and were declared the winner, and Balmain has hated Souths ever since.
