Speed was one of the weaknesses tonight, Ray Ray doesn’t have the speed to play on the wing, swap the positions of Koula and Tippytoes is an option on the left.

Maybe time to look at blooding Cameron Brown on the wing now Myers is off.

I'd throw Jackson Ferris and Clayton Faulolo into the mix as well. Ray Ray's weaknesses at NRL level are pretty apparent to everyone by now.

Speed is a tempered myth. Koula has it, but I would argue he is another over-inflated myth as a footy player. His speed would be useful on the end of created movements, but he is completely incapable of creating anything from centre himself. Just look at this try scoring record and try assists. Says it all really.

Yes. Unless he has space, which is all too infrequently, he is not capable of making a break. He has talent, but not nearly as much as the hype that has surrounded him.

Completely agree. He needs to be a recipient of some more creative and talented inside work. Outside Schu has potential, but Schu is providing more challenges than answers at the moment. If he (Schu) had the drive and work ethic, he would be a star and making players like Koula look like a million bucks.

God Speed to you @frank stokes and to all our faithful Manly feathered friends

The Three most dominant DNA God given Gifts on the field are
Superior Speed
Superior Skill
and
Superior Strength
But the Mother of all DNA on field Gifts is The Killer Speed
Because no one can stop a Player that they can not catch

The Underdogs were all over Manly and leading for over 70 minutes of the semi finals game
until Koula saved Seibolds bacon

Take it away Speed KIller and Match Winner Koula

Keeping these speedsters fully fit and on the field would seem essential. Koula and Saab surely in the top 3-5 in the game for speed. Then Garrick and Hopoate, both with quite a bit of toe. Talau is also quick and a fit Turbo, surely makes this backline close to if not the fastest in the game. Add to players with a bit of speed in the forwards such as Bullemor and Burbo, the Sea Eagles are no longer the Pedestrian Plodders of a few years back. Interesting that Garrick, along with Brooks and Bullemor have been selected in the PM rep squad. Note also one of the ones we let go, Weekes, is also there..

Agree mate but Brbo is slower than a wet fart. He & brother Jrbo have zero speed. Just my opinion.

Something occured to me today, I can't remember many wins in the past few years without Saab, so I've gone and calculated it.

Since he joined the club in 2021:

Record with Saab:
45-34
= 57% Win rate

Record without Saab:
6-2-14
= 27% Win rate

Speed kills...

FYI, this is also the same win percentage we have had without Turbo since 2019 (27%)

Thank God for that
Those underwhelming and Pedestrian backs like Parker and Harper did my head in
I did not feel like Manly
Because Sea eagle backs are meant to fly
And yet, you would rarely ever see Parker drop off tackles in the centres like we have consistently watched with “speed kills” Garrick. Did you watch his defence in the prime ministers xiii game today? 🤦‍♂️

Personally I think that our back 5, if you put Hopoate on the wing in place of Talau, is collectively the fastest back 5 in the NRL.

FB - Turbo still has good pace. He seems to have shed the Philly running style and is back to basics.

WG - Hopoate hasn't really had a lot of chance in first grade to show any true speed, but from what I've seen he's definitely quicker than Talau.

CE - Koula. His pace we know. Fun Fact: We know his best 100 time is a 10.58. His dad's best? 10.56 set not long before the 1996 Olympics.

CE - Garrick. He's probably 3rd quickest at the club behind Saab and Koula. I'm a fan of Reubs, but no sugar coating it, his defence as we saw late in the season and in the PM's XIII game over the weekend, needs a lot of work. He can do it, his tackle efficiency is actually better than Koula's or Talau's. But centre's need to be better because they're usually the cover for poor tackling wingers.

WG - Saab. Best 100 time of 10.67, but probably the fastest in the NRL right now just ahead of Koula and Hammer.
